I've been all over the place with my car shopping. Likely won't be seriously in the market until the end of summer, which gives me plenty of time for window shopping.

Never been much of a truck guy, but this is intriguing.

left lane for some reason. I don't know if it's due to all the #### they mount on it coupled with being underpowered or what, but it seems like almost half the time there's a left lane backup a Tacoma is somewhere in the mix impeding traffic flow.

I ride right lane with cruise on as much as possible. I get there when I get there…

Do they just not go fast or what's the deal?

Mar 10, 2023, 11:06 AM

Cause I've got a 1988 Pathfinder on mud tires that has no problem doing 70mph, but I'm not sure Ive ever seen a Tacoma doing over 65.

I'm a Tacoma fan but the ride sucks from about 70 and up.

I bought new one in 2010.

2WD TRD Off Road package. Roughest riding vehicle I ever owned. I thought it must have been those terrible BF Goodrich Long Trail tires it came with so I swapped them out for some Michelins about 3 weeks after I bought it.

Nope.

I traded it about 6 months later. I hated that thing. Gas mileage of a full size truck with a big block, amenities of a stripped down Corolla, the ride of a small farm wagon, power of a lawn mower with an undersized Briggs and Stratton engine, all for the price of a Limited 4Runner.

I have an '04 2WD automatic 2.4L plain jane Tacoma.

Ride is not great. Looks like there's about an inch of suspension travel in the front before the lower A-arms hit a rubber bumper on the frame. I replaced the shocks when I bought it, but that didn't help. But the only thing I've had to fix other than normal wearables is one 02 sensor.

These days, it's an extra vehicle just to haul stuff.

Will get a much better drivetrain with motors that have torque. If the manual sticks around, it would be a superior choice compared to the gutless V6 the current truck has.

We currently have a 2020 SR5 with V6/auto as a work truck.

We sold our small tire 4-cylinder work truck last year and hoping to hold out for the electric Taco. Toyota has been very quiet on timeframe.
