Tigers who transferred elsewhere ... who made it work best?

Which Clemson transfer has actually been a big success elsewhere?
Most have simply run head on with the truth they couldn’t see when they were at Clemson.
So who came closest?
Gotta be Chad Kelly, right?

Those are the only two I know of at big schools, we had several who left on great terms that left because they weren’t going to get playing time at Clemson. We had a DT go to Coastal Carolina & Our backup QB Cooper 3 years ago transferred to Jackson State because we had 7 QB’s & he did great until he broke his leg last year.
It seems like anybody who left with bad behavior w/Dabo has not done well of course I’d love to see Kendrick play great against everybody except us.
DJ’s point that Kendrick is familiar with us might be an advantage but we are familiar with him as well, tells us Dabo will use it to our advantage.
I love our QB!

How’s Hunter Johnson doing? I always though he had good potential just needed more focus and drive.

Hunter went to Northwestern and did not do well at all. I kind of kept up with him since the NU stadium is just a couple miles away. Ryan Hilinski transferred there from USuC, so it will continue to be interesting to follow.
This is a quote from Sports Illustrated:
Hunter Johnson is a senior who transferred from Clemson and is entering his final year of eligibility. Johnson last played during Northwestern’s 3-9 season, where he threw for 432 yards and one touchdown to four interceptions. Johnson has flashed the talent that made him a top recruit coming out of high school, but in his last on-field action, he struggled with inaccuracy, completing only 43.8% of his passes in 2019. If he wants to turn around his college career and put on a good showing for NFL scouts, he has to win the job this year.

I think Feaster got drafted late but not sure if he made an NFL roster.

I decided to look it up and you are correct. He was not drafted. He is now signed to his third team. According to Saturday’s down south he signed a free agent contract to be on the practice squad for the Detroit Lions.
So I can’t think of anyone that has been drafted after transferring out of Clemson.
DK could be the first, but will he be able to stay on the field even at Georgia? I mean clearly they don’t seem to be concerned with his off field issues.
You would think based on the way Georgia fans are acting and even some YouTube videos from 24/7 that he is the second coming! But from my recollection he spent half the time in Dabo‘s dog house and when he was on the field he got burned on a pretty regular basis. I hope Georgia puts him on Ross!

After ending up at Baylor he switched to center, became a starter and played extremely well for them. If I recall correctly, he was second team all conference his senior year.

Pagano ended up at Oregon and got hurt. I saw him a couple years back at his parents ice shop in 6 Mile. I think he was considering the XFL at the time, but of course that didn’t fly for long. I think if he had stayed at Clemson he would have played fewer snaps but better exposure for an an NFL free agent chance.

He is now a coach somewhere. I see him respond to some Twitter posts regarding Clemson from time to time.

Brian Linthicum had 3 pretty good years at Michigan State at tight end.

Cooper went to Jacksonville State down in Alabama. He was a starter for two or three years there and set a bunch of conference records. Don’t know if he ended up getting drafted but he had a good college career after leaving Clemson. Probably the most successful person I can think of after leaving Clemson. But at a small school in a small conference. Not a major college program. And of course Simmons became the starter and did pretty well at the citadel. But again. Small school small conference.

transferred seeking more playing time, and those who, like Chad Kelly, were booted off the team for bad behavior. As far as major success, hard to argue that Kelly made the most of his career after being moved on.
