Tigerama

IMO, there are some things you don't mess with and certain traditions are among those. Tigerama, a once glorious Clemson tradition has now turned into something that is the same every year. The theme used to be something topical that had lots of possibilities for different skits, while staying within that theme...TV comedies, Pixar movies, Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, etc. Now, we get a generic, pretty sounding theme like the eye of the Tiger or footprints in the sand...a theme that, while it sounds good, makes for lousy skits. Because of this, we now only get one skit in Tigerama, plus whatever the football team wants to do. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that the team comes in and does something now. So, now, Tigerama loses the very thing that made it Tigerama...the skits. I understand that every year, there were always one or two skits that had you shaking your head, trying to figure it out, but the other ones could be magical. But the students today don't get the opportunity to perform for the big crowd, so why put in the effort. Having the skit competition on Wednesday night is not the same thing. Bring back the skits to Tigerama...it will be a better evening instead of being all "show".

your idea is a good one. Your post made me think how little I've heard it mentioned this year so it probably needs a tune up or refurbishing

Not to mention, it used to draw 35,000 people in 80s.
I will say they had a great fireworks display tonight.

When did they take it away from Death Valley

When did they stop doing Tigerama in Death Valley. Stupid idea to move it inside.
I would get out of school early as a kid on a Friday and drive up for Tigerama.
I remember sitting in the North stands watching skits being performed by the fraternities and then fireworks going off.

A big production even back in my days at CU, one involving

large numbers of students...and held in DV. I served as Skits' Chairman one year, Publicity Chairman another and enjoyed the work, and we had great crowds.
Of course, it was tied into other Homecoming activities, which in those days always included dances in the Cafeteria, featuring various groups like the Four Tops, Temptations, Drifters, etc.

when the first thing they did was to PLAY MUSIC DURING THE FIREWORKS display. It was so much better when you saw the flash, then the BOOM and then the splattering of color all over the night time sky.....and then the ooooohhhhhh for one display and aaaaaaaahhhh for the next explosion.....from 35,000 fans. And perhaps the Kappa Sigs had a small part of the move towards supervision when, as part of our, uh I mean , their skit, they had a jet descend on a long guy wire from the upper deck to the field, where upon it hit the playing field to a HUGE explosion from a coffee can full of SOMETHING. BAM!!!!! It was awesome. Shortly thereafter, Tigerama was moved indoors where they could surveil us better, NOT TO MENTION they could boost the price from 99 cents to what it is now...$8 bucks?( I really don't know what they charge, haven't been in 10 years at least) But anyway, you youngsters don't know what a good time it used to be.Let me see......35,000 Clemson fans enjoying being in Clemson, thousands of them less than 10 years old, the new blood, or a few hundred.......Yep, the grown ups have turned a great and unique thing into an ordinary event. Tigerama, with out the drama,is that what it has come to. Somebody needs to get RC on the phone and get this thing straigtened out PRONTO. IMHO.
