Tiger Family Affected by Irma

Sep 8, 2017, 10:50 PM

Hi Tigers,

I just wanted to let you know that I have some friends, huge Clemson fans, who were gravely affected this week by Hurrican Irma. They had flown to St. Thomas last weekend to get married with their parents and their 16-month-old child and planned on staying through the week for a honeymoon. Little did they know what was coming.

By the time they knew exactly how close and destructive Irma was, it was too late to get off the island. Luckily, just days before the storm hit, their parents got off the island with their child, but they were left behind. Irma destroyed a lot of St Thomas and the newlyweds are stuck on the island, the next few days unknown. They hid out in the hotel hallway with other guests as the storm came through.

Their father has set up a GoFundMe page to hopefully gain some funds to help them get home or help them get the supplies they need while they are still in St. Thomas.

This is a family that attended the national championship the last 2 years and are huge Tiger supporters. If you have a few extra dollars to spare, please help them to get off the island.

Thanks guys, and Go Tigers!

I'm sorry for this dilemma, and I am in central Florida, still in the "cone" of Irma, so I am not callous to the result of this storm.

But, I'll have to say, it seems strange to me that there is a Go Fund Me for a family that could afford a Virgin Islands wedding/honeymoon and consecutive trips to the national championship game?

He is a GM at a restaurant in mb and i haven't heard anything about this. His family is HUGE tiger fans and your right, they have attended the last 2 national championships. The newlyweds both graduated from Clemson. Cant believe i havent heard this yet. I will no doubt contribute to his donation.

Done. I pray they can use the support to get home to their family. I understand Hurricane Jose is heading towards islands hit by Irma. Hopefully St Thomas is spared.
