The North upper deck looked very sparse on Tv as well as the hill and gaps of empty seats in the south upper deck as well.

60,000. Lowest attendance in decades I'm guessing.

I was at the Duke game. Lot of empty seats in the north and south upper stands. I mean a lot , also student hill was around half full, plus a good bit of seats were not filled in the lower deck also.

Yeah but that enabled the two separate groups of guys to take off their shirts, dance and twirl their shirts around in those two corners of the stadium. I've gotta say that was the only thing that made me smile during that entire game. Then, the PA system started to play the "I'm too sexy for my shirt" song, and I actually laughed out loud.
DISCLAIMER: I don't get to many games in person. My first thought was that this couldn't have been the first time that the fans did this...but I asked around me and several 'regulars' in the stands said this was the first they'd ever seen it.
I know, it's pretty sad that my favorite memory of a game was a seemingly organic act of fandom in the stands, and not our actual play of the field.

I guess that’s kinda like our shirtless FSU professor reading a book moment. Hopefully that means we’ve hit rock bottom and things will change.

The organic part of your comment is one that I do want to get lost. That is vintage Death Valley. Something unexpected would usually happen, especially when Ricky Capps was The Tiger. I had fun at the stadium Saturday for the first time in a while. Keep the music down to a minimum with better song selection, and let the crowd take over.

Game but no way in heck I'm driving up from Charleston and paying for two hotel rooms to watch that defense play like it has. I don't think we beat FSU this week. Just not worth the time and effort for me when I see what this program producing and the same crap out of Dabo. There should have been an ESPN story this morning that someone had been fired.

It was a lot like you said. I even made the comment to family that went , I’ve never seen so many empty seats on both sides of the stadium.

Maybe 60k for the Duke game in the stands. Around 55 after halftime.
Haven’t seen the upper deck look like that since the 98 season.
It was a fun game to be at though, traffic was non existent at 9am, plenty of room to move around and no bathroom lines!

True!! I also was pleasantly surprised to have no traffic driving in. I was mentally prepared for stressful gridlock but it was smooth sailing.
I also had no line at the mens room (and the ladies appeared to have 'only' a small line at the entrance).
I've gotta say, I'm really proud of Clemson fans. Despite all that happened at the game: The only curse word I heard that didn't originate from our own sideline, actually slipped out of my own mouth (my apologies to the families with kids behaving more maturely than me seated nearby- I hope you didnt' hear that).
The tailgaters were all one collective class act, as always. Anyone who spent that much time, money and resources had every right to be angry after the game, but nope--everyone I passed by was enjoying a post-game party that resembled a family barbecue, chatting, eating drinking and having fun, catching up on the later games being played--instead of being angry at the world like I was. They sure improved my mood.
And finally, there was NO Trash on the ground. Every tailgating site had picked up after themselves, and put their trash neatly in bags. I've been to many sporting events in a good number of different cities, and it never ceases to amaze me how clean the Campus is, even after a large event like this. It is nothing short of amazing to me.
The game was brutal, but being around such great fans in such a great environment made me so glad to be there. Clemson fans and the Clemson campus are the greatest, and never cease to impress me. I will be forever proud to be a Clemson fan, even after games like that one.

Also hanging out with buds, sipping at Esso Club, eating some BBQ, and working in some Friday golf at Par 3's. Hopefully, we get back in the win column with 70K plus (my guesstimate) in the seats. Go Tigers!

Here's the noon game against a 3 loss Duke.
Not sure a night game against a 4 loss FSU will be much better.

Regardless of what the actual attendence was the environment was more like people coming to observe a court room verdict in hushed silence than it was excited fans. Early on the commentators remarked on how quiet the stands were.
I suspect we'll still get a decent turnout for FSU, but do not expect fans to have a significant impact. At least people are past booing...the shock is over and everyone knows we are not an under-performing team that should be booed. We are simply not a good team and when you know that you stop booing.

Good point. As was mentioned in one of the past weeks' post-lost threads, one form of showing one's disapproval can be silence, rather than booing. The silence was deafening, at quite a few points during the Duke game.
