Im not saying its right or wrong to have the flag on the capital grounds, but a piece of rectangular cloth didn't pull the trigger. If the flag never existed the loser would have taken a pic with a soviet flag, or nazi flag, or IRA flag, or Sicilian independence flag, or Ukrainian flag. Its just a piece of cloth...

The people that use a terrible tragedy and the lost of life as an in to re-launch their political agenda are just as pathetic as the man who pulled the trigger. Instead of using their power and energy to help those effected they focus on something that means absolutely nothing. Is taking the flag down going to change anything? No. Is taking down the flag going to stop racism and insane "supremacist" from causing harm to others? No. If the people now up in arms were not calling for the removal of the flag before the shooting they should not be worried about the flag now. I personally don't care if it fly's or not because it in no way will ever effect me. But I almost wish they would leave it up just to spite those that are using this tragedy as extra pull to get what they want.

When have we ever made a civil rights or societal change that the slippery slope argument turned out to be right?
That's always the argument against gays, but as they gain their equal rights, there's no follow on movement to marry dogs and cats.
The nuance of the arguments during the civil rights era was before my time, but I'd venture a guess that they said, "if we let blacks vote, then what next? Dogs and cats voting?"
All that boils down to is a bigot who knows he's on the wrong side of an issue that he's going to lose.

I'm not an opportunistic politician, so I could really care less about the flag issue.(Neither do they really). That flag means nothing to me. I'm more concerned with the healing process that needs to take place in Charleston. But I will say this:
Yes it is time. It is past time. Put it into a museum where it belongs..with other historical artifacts instead of flying it in the faces of those it supposedly bothers so much. Otherwise, it's going to continue to be a divisive political football. I'm sick of racial division.
Sad that the story has evolved into this before the families can at least get closure and mourn their loved ones. I knew it would.
