This needs to be said - Tyler's comments were a breath of fresh air

Now, do I wish Tyler said every single word that he did? Nah, not really. But don't care about picking apart his delivery. He didn't cuss, he didn't use a tone of aggression though. In fact at least 65% of what he said many fans have been saying the same for a couple seasons, the 98.5 and 1.5 alike. The "meet" of Tyler's address was very much needed and warranted. He had the balls that no reporter had.

Now, that leaves Dabo's response. I never in a million years would have thought Dabo would have been quite so sensitive. For a program that truly is not that far away from greatness both past and future (not to make mention of his income to boost his confidence), there's no way that his emotions are strictly due to x's and o's. There must be other factors that Dabo is dealing with and unfortunately Tyler was the one who received the hell fire. Just remember disrespectful callers happen on all call-in shows, whether it be politics, sports, whatever. Those calls should have zero power to unearth emotions in the guest speaker by the very nature of the guest speaker having the courage to come onto a public talk show. Many people can't even do a public talk show, but those that do on a regular basis, there's zero chance any caller moves the emotional needle in the guest unless that needle was already moving before hand.

I just wish Dabo had addressed Tyler's very blunt concerns (minus the salary part), in the weeks leading up to this point so there would have been no need for a Tyler in the first place. And I mean really address them, not just point to past success or use coach speak in all the press conferences up to this point and certainly should have never engaged the 4th wall a couple of weeks ago with the 1.5% idea.

So, can things get better? Of course. Will they? Only time will tell, but things can't get much worse, so as the saying goes, we can only go up from here!

Well the reporters don't offer solutions either, they are just there to ask questions and most only ask the soft ball questions.

Maybe Tyler is Saban or a “coot” or a UGA coach…
We are still 4 & 4…

Could be the 4 & 4 thingy that has created some division and raw nerves.
Swinney acted like a cartoon.

Do you work for Fake News Trump? Your 65% comment is just a joke because I am just convinced that more than 35% of Tiger fans are smart enough to understand that teams lose football games every year and this is our year.

Brilliant. Math major, right?
Look, half of the teams lose each week.
Feeling any better now?

He was passive agressive and attacked Dabo's relationship with God.

I don't suppose a heathen can understand or appreciate how a man who loves God and tries with all he has to be a faithful servant feels when his sin in pointed out in public.

Dabo would have done well to refuse to respond to a personal attack in public.

Like I mentioned, I don't think anything Tyler said in the moment triggered Dabo. Dabo was clearly at a place emotionally before hand. He sounded down and out and nearly half asleep from the beginning of the show. I think Dabo is dealing with MUCH, Tyler was just he straw that broke the camel's back.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Honestly the number 1 reason Dabo should have handled it differently...

3

Nov 1, 2023, 11:50 AM

can be seen by looking around.

Simply put, his actions have divided the fanbase. You on team Tyler, or team Dabo? Should we dox him or was he mature and recognized he handled it wrong? Is Dabo delivering a fiery defense of his team and program or is he a thin-skinned nancy who can't take criticism?

And so now we're on here going at each other. Maybe that was the point to take heat off the team, but that's a short term gain for a long term loss methinks.

Dabo already got this started the week before with the 98.5% vs. 1.5%... this just poured gas on the fire.

I think it's being over analyzed. A joker deservedly got his head bitten off. I wish all jokers would get bitten so savagely. The world would be a more orderly place. Who has never gotten their head bitten off deservedly or unreservedly? Who has never bitten the head from off a joker? It happened, it happens, it will continue to happen, and it should happen. Laugh at the headless clown and move on. And remember next time, as Tyler should as well, when you go to speak to a man of high position, or really any man whatever, you would be wise to do so with a modicum of respect, a healthy air of deference and a touch of good taste.

Never get in amother man's family or his wallet. Dabo could have turned the tables and asked Tyler how much he made and how much he contributed to the success of his employer. It would have been a lesson in humility for young Tyler.
You can express dissappointment without disdain.

Why sure they can get worse. We got Shipley on the fence as to whether he will play or not. That was a VERY dangerous lick he took and clearly was targeting. And bringing up salary has no place in the conversation. There are so many jealous people out there that hit people in all walks of life over salaries. Most are underachievers that are just jealous of others success, be it a corporate exec, school principal, or coach. Coaches impacts are often system wide. Ask one of our Trustees what Dabo's coaching has done for Clemson's reputation, its fundraising, the growth in the geographical area, the town of Clemson, the profile of the university, etc etc. Is he solely responsible for all that, of course not, but is he a major factor, absolutely. Can it gets worse, sure we could lose to ND this Saturday as forecast, we could lose again to UNC. And critics cite our loss to USC and UT last year. We beat USC 7 times straight and the fact that we didn't do it 8 times is a reason to ##### and moan. Get real. Every dog has his day, even USC. Put it in perspective, Dabo and his family and the people he has surrounded himself with over the years have been great assets to the program, university, college football and the community. If you want to get Biblical read John 8, "This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you , let him cast the first stone at her. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last, and jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

if you dont like scripture, if one might not be a Christian, there is a secular version and it says " mess with the bull and you might get the horn"!

Dabo pointed out the likes of Dean Smith, Saban, Krzyzewski and tough spots they experienced like Duke 1981-82 team that went 10-17, 95/96 18-13, Smith 21-13 in 1989. Take a look at your own life, if you haven't had disappointing times, you haven't lived. The difference is your disapountments aren't televised.

As my dad used to tell us growing up, there's a 25 cent fine for whining at our house.

Learn to give thanks,

Honestly, LHP, I believe Dabo is facing a serious morale issue with

Nov 1, 2023, 1:21 PM

the staff and team, which is understandable.

The last thing he, our staff, team and loyal fanbase needs to hear or put up with is a self-appointed, smart-assssed, negative arbiter of football guruism who didn't hesitate to attack Dabo Swinney's character.

Frankly, I despise those types, for they seek 15 minutes of infamy, thinking wrongly they are doing a huge favor for the masses with their blather. I like most others are not particularly amused with our season, but I'm not about to chicken-sh*t hide behind anonymity to attack Dabo Swinney or any other member of our staff. Only a certified, first-class piece of sh*t does something like that; furthermore, I don't give a hoot in helll, if that character is a former Marine, Gyrene or Latrine: like me a pile of TNetters are former service members, and I doubt many would excuse that tripe's behavior.

Lastly, that would be about the end of live call-in shows in my book lest some other jackasss attempted the same inexcuseable horsedung. As far as I'm concerned, Dabo was gentle with the POS; I would have told him to kiss my assss and hung up in about two seconds....and so would have a helll of a lot of HC's across this nation!
