Not only because he's a criminal and deserves it, but because it would be the chef's kiss to all the weak-minded sycophants who worship him. I hope he dies there alone, and everyone who puts him before America and our Constitution has to cry into their Trump flags.

Is that you don’t think you can beat him in a fair election
So you are going to try and put him in jail to prevent a democratic election
The optics just really suck.
I think Trump would be 5 points behind in the polls without all these bogus charges

I’m not a fan of either Trump or Biden, but this is a deeply flawed case.
Legal analysts on CNN and MSNBC have some major concerns.
Process should mean more than antipathy towards an individual.
I have no use for Alex Murdaugh. However, based on the actions of the Clerk of Court and as much as it bothers me, I think Murdaugh should have a new trial.Similarly I don’t care for Trump either, but feel he is getting jobbed with this proceeding.
Trump is not a very moral person, but this particular case to me and many others is a sham.
I hope he at least gets a hung jury.
The same glee that some on this board had when states were trying to keep Trump off the ballot seems equally misguided when cheering for a guilty verdict in this very politically motivated trial.
If reasonable doubt is to continue to be the standard we all uphold, I find it hard to reconcile supporting a guilty verdict.
Lot of liberal legal analysts feel the same and even more think Trump would prevail on appeal, but of course that wouldn’t occur until after the election, which in my opinion is the whole point of this trial, to hobble Trump.
Thank God, the Dems are fighting for democracy.

he paid 30k + 130k + 150k in hush money? and did so as a form of a retainer to a lawyer? if I"m reading this correctly, over 34 payments which equals the 34 counts of falsifying business records?
and they're calling it election interference? I'm assuming we all objectively agree that part's a little rich, no?
not trying to be obtuse here, but what's the crime? paying off a hooker, or paying off the hooker using business funds through a lawyer?
read the statement of facts and that's what I gathered

The crime is falsifying business records
May 23, 2024, 4:09 PM

Stated clearly in the responses to your question. It's more than just the payments; it's the falsifying to cover them up and conceal damaging information during the election.
So let me simply this: It's very similar to the John Edwards case, although a jury did not convict him.
Why do I have a feeling you already knew all about this case...

Heh, okay, sure.
I have a hard time believing you don't follow any political news in the United States, and I especially don't believe you haven't followed this trial since you spouted the Trumper talking point (I'm not calling you a Trumper. Stay calm.) of "but what's the crime?!" Knowing full well the charges are real charges and real crimes.
Anyway, giving you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't follow this at all, if a state has "falsifying business records" as a crime and someone is caught doing just that to cover up hush money payments to a #### star so he could run for president, you would see why charges were filed, right?

I've said this many times man, pretty sure quite a few times to you directly, I do not follow news that does not matter. I do not follow news or headlines which are solely intended to sow division over useless BS. I do not follow political news unless a bill gets signed, or (very rarely) is on the table to get signed, and then I go read the bill. And quite frankly, if the news doesn't pop up in my news feed on my trading app, and I don't read it here, then I don't now it's happening. B/c it doesn't matter.
I watch tape. Everything you need to know is in the tape. Everything else is complete and utter BS.
Then I just go outside or work or play with my kids. All this political news is a ####### cancer and everyone is so god #### triggered over so much god #### ######## it's ridiculous. You all look like a bunch of clowns.
I like my way. Other than how pissed off I get at our broader economic outlook, I'm generally pretty happy with everything.
I know for a fact you're a level headed dude and probably reasonable to talk to in person. Yet b/c of the venue and the hyperpolarization you, like everyone else, is just in full on attack mode over something that affects none of our day to day, week to week, month to month lives.
When I said, what is the crime, I was asking as a non-legal person. If you have an attorney on retainer, and pay that attorney to do something, that attorney is doing his job in my mind. But I guess (obviously) that's illegal...call me ignorant on state laws regarding falsifying business records lol. Sure, that fits and is extremely reasonable.
Don't insinuate I'm just wasting years of my life lapping up useless political news and tweets to try and get a rouse out of all you morons. You're giving me WAY too much credit. That's laughable.
Sounds like you (and boutdamn everyone else here) needs a sack full of mushrooms and weekend unplugged from the internet.

Okay, well, if you think this news doesn't matter to you (a presidential candidate potentially being convicted and the unpredictable reactions/unrest/effects that could ensue), I don't know what to tell you. And YES, that can affect the economy in trading. I don't see how you don't recognize that politics and trading are linked.
I watch tape. Everything you need to know is in the tape. Everything else is complete and utter BS.
This is a poor way to stay informed, but okay.

So you pop onto board you claim to not care about and call us clowns over topics you say you don't follow. You know what? I don't follow soccer. I could say people who are religious about that are clowns. But that doesn't make me right, does it?
I like my way. Other than how pissed off I get at our broader economic outlook, I'm generally pretty happy with everything.
Pissed off about economics but not following political news...

Thanks, you too. But this particular post is a rare moment of suck ### for you. And yes, this does affect our lives; this is how we get into these bad political situations. Having a large segment of the populous that doesn't care.
Don't insinuate I'm just wasting years of my life lapping up useless political news and tweets to try and get a rouse out of all you morons. You're giving me WAY too much credit. That's laughable.
Ah. So we're all morons for following political news and the workings of our government because... you don't?

I do that every weekend except with beer. Listen, this place is an outlet to hash out #### that maybe we don't want to while sitting around my bar or grilling out or throwing bags or chilling with the family. This little segment serves a purpose. Same as the Lunge, which I'm sure some people look at that and think it's stupid.

if the story got out right after the Access Hollywood audio was released. That was made apparent during the trial.
Which should come as no surprise to anyone who recalls that point in the election and the closeness of the race and the outcome along with the sordid nature of the #### star Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal affairs while his wife was out of commission with his new baby at home. Those would have been huge stories had they come out prior to the election.
Trump is guilty of worse, but that shouldn't minimize a crime that the Trump DOJ chose, in part, to imprison Michael Cohen for.
