TAINTED

Honestly, now that the Playoff era is here, all the previous BCS Championships are tainted. I'm not trying to take accomplishments away from those teams in the past, but it is obvious that many of those Champions were just handed a spot in the final and probably would have been beat by a #3 or #4 team on many occasions. #ItJustMeansLess

I’m sure BCS champions will let this bother them as they’re polishes their trophies.
CFP is better than BCS. BCS is better than the nothing we had before where polls were the only decider.
I don’t love our 1981 championship any less because we didn’t get to win it through a playoff with Penn State, Pitt and Texas.

Go look at Alabama's 17 National titles and tell me that those are some tainted titles way back then. They had multiple National championships handed out to different schools in the same season. They have every right to claim those titles si dont get me wrong. Though I think the years that Alabama wasn't the only champion should have an asterisk and then see how many outright titles they have. They have proven even in the playoff era that they can win them any way that the NCAA decides to give them out.

No they don’t. There’s at least 3 of those they have absolutely no right to claim but did anyway so they could stack them on top of their others and use the shine of actual deserved titles to make the turds shine. Thus was born Alabama arrogance. The trailer trash fans hopped on board by buying t-shirts and license plates counting the fraudulent championships and after a while nobody could tell the difference. Kind of like common core math.

The way I look at is that they are National champs but they should have an asterisk. That asterisk is because they weren't the outright national champions. More like co-champions. If I do recall, and I'm going on memory here so I could be wrong, but I think that Alabama won a couple of titles when they act8had a worse record than their co-champions did in the same season. If that is right, then those shouldn't be claimed at all. That is if my memory serves me correct. I might just go look this up to be sure again.

They are still tainted.

Just less so. How about before that when the championship itself was handed to a particular team? It has been proven, as a matter of fact, that many of those were likely bogus, as the current playoff system has shown that the #1 team in the final poll often does not win the playoff. A final poll is a bogus way to determine a champion. Therefore, it's easy to see why a poll is a bogus way to determine who should be in a playoff; we know polls get it wrong. Make no mistake, the current system is much, much better than anything we've ever had, and I'm happy to see the progress; it's still not where it should be and could be.
