What are realistic expectations for the offense & defense on Saturday?

I don't think anyone thought we'd be setting low expectations for Clemson football this year after all the pre-season hype, but here we are.
I'm hoping we can score at least 17 points in the first half. This team has been absolutely abysmal in first halves this year. I'd like to see a RB not named Randall get some touches. I especially want to see Tristan Smith get more involved.
On defense, we need to see our interior DL disrupt UNCheat (hello PWoo). We need to see our LB's play with some gap integrity. We also need to see our corners play more aggressively against the run. And we need to see Parker play up to his ability at DE. Would also be nice to see a safety not named Hanafin make a tackle.
Can special teams actually make a decent kick/punt return? Saturday might be our best opportunity of the year to make one.

I said the same thing about Troy and Syracuse. We nearly sh*t the bed against Troy and definitely sh*t the bed against a lousy Syracuse team.

No way we score 17 in a half. I’d say fingers crossed we win 28-17 ish.

that we can count on and not wear Randall out completely before the end of the season.
We need to take some of the pressure off of our QB, WRs and Oline who aren't handling the pressure of the passing game well. Establish the run and create some openings in the play action passing game.

Yes. The thing about Randall is he doesn't have that explosive first step that a guy like ETN has, making it easier for defenses to get to the ball carrier.
A change of pace back is really, really needed right now. I was hoping they would get Davidson going sooner than later, but that hasn't happened. Really surprised about that.

We need to score 1 more point than they do and the rest doesn't matter.

I would like to see the freshman back, Davidson, get some carrys. If not, he will transfer as well as Eziomume. Then who would be left for next year?

Yes, we absolutely need to get Davidson rolling but for whatever reason, that hasn't happened. I expected EZ would transfer after this season if Davidson came on and Haynes returned from injury.......so we'll see.

They better win by 21 or I feel pretty good our next win will be in November. Our D should shut them down because Ucf just pushed them around. Our O should be able to run the ball on them but then again you have to call running plays to run the ball.

we dont push anyone around, UCF is more physical than we are. This team really lacks speed and physicality on defense and you cant change that during the season.

That's all that is needed. Cover the spread for the bettor heads , make sure you leave Belichick sneering at the nearest camera. Have those Brie smearing wine tasters leaving that stadium with the headaches of a thousand male bighorn sheep.

My only realistic expectation is to at a minimum play mistake free football. No turnovers and few penalties. I can get the neither the offense or the defense is synched up and performing, but lets just not beat ourselves.

Effort. Defensive players flying around. ("You may make a mistake and miss your assignment, but you better do it at 100 mph!")
Better execution on offense. Make the easy plays. Hit the open receiver.
It's hard to quantify, but I just want to see an "attitude." I want to see players playing like they are happy to be there and want to be there, not just going through the motions.
As for scores, yardages, turnovers (both sides of the ball) I'm not setting any personal "realistic expectations."
But, realistically, I expect to see better effort, execution and attitude. I don't think that is too much to expect.

If Clemson fails to score 17 in the first half there’s something seriously wrong. The UNC defense is pathetic. If UNC scores more than 17 for the game there’s something g wrong. The UNC offense is equally pathetic. This is a very very bad UNC team.

I have zero expectations. We just have no clue if the true potential in this team will come out or if we’ll see more of the same.

The moment someone says "we need to try someone else at RB" I immediately ignore the rest of the post.
Randall is averaging 5.9 yards per carry. That is insanely good.

He won't avg. 5.9 ypc against elite competition. He can do that against the Troys and Syracuses of the world. There's also the fact that eventually, he will go down with an injury if they continue to ride him like a rented mule. They have nobody else to turn to if he does.

Went to all 3 home games this year and the team seems to be getting worse. Troy and Syracuse saw from LSU tape that you can run off tackle against our defense for big gains as our linebackers stay blocked or out of position and throw all day against our soft coverage. Our offensive line can’t block for our running or passing game. Klubnik needs to go through his progressions when he has time and trust and throw to all his receivers. He must hit his hot read on a heavy blitz and not bale out or take a sack. I don’t think Randall is the answer at RB. He’s slow on his first steps and cuts and runs too upright to get through some tackles. I’d like to see a lot more different receivers and tight ends in the mix with catches and other RB’s get more carries . And at this time I don’t mind Dabo sitting Klubnik if he has a slow first quarter and giving Vizzina a chance to light it up. I’d like to see the offense have a complete game but they haven’t yet and are 0-4 on the point spread. My son and I will both be at the game this Saturday in Chapel Hil I think the Tigers pull through with a victory but a lot closer than everyone thinks Go Tigers !!!

disappointed if we don’t win convincingly. People say there is no such thing as a bad win but at this point we are hungry to a confident team playing with an edge. 24-10 or something like that will just bring out the boo birds again. That being said, I have no idea what to expect. I expected a big change with the Syracuse game and we didn’t get it.

Probably not a great deal more than moderate improvement. A single open date is hardly enough time to suddenly come out and dominate. That being said, a moderate improvement for me on offense and defense would be a final score of Clemson 30 UNC 17.

The realistic expectations are to have none
Past performances coupled with the potential of this team creates a chasm greater than the grand canyon.
We really need to curbstomp North Carolina and jump on some of their recruits.
The fondness of Belichick isn't worth gambling on your NFL potential
They are failing badly and it will only worsen
The fact that they are outrecuiting us is grossly unacceptable
