Upon further review did we really struggle with FSU?

It was 17-0 at halftime. They didn't score their first points until there was 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. We had a bad defensive and offensive stretch over about a 10 minute period from the end of the 3rd qtr to about the middle of the 4th quarter. However, other than that it was uncompetitive domination of the Noles for really 50 of 60 minutes.
On scoreboard the game was close in the 4th qtr, but people seem to be treating it like this was a nip and tuck game all the way through. Although we scored late, I thought the final score was definitely indicative of how much we out played FSU if you look at the game in it's entirety. We were clearly the better team for 80% of the game. Why so much focus on the 20%?

Agreed. The ACC Atlantic is a lot tougher this year than it has been in the past (like in 2011-2013).
According to Sagarin ratings, FSU has had the 1st toughest schedule so far, and we've had the 5th toughest. On the other hand, Georgia and Alabama have played significantly softer schedules (ranked 39th and 49th, respectively). Georgia got woodshedded by Auburn, one of the good teams they've played this season. Alabama has also struggled at times against teams of the similar caliber that we play more regularly while blowing out weak teams.

We were obviously the better team and should've been up early but we failed to captilize, fumbled, etc.
Therefore it was obviously very close with FSU getting the ball at the 50 down 3.
To say we were completely in control in the 4th quarter is crazy. Yes, it should've been a 31 14 type game. But we struggled mightily the majority of the 2nd half.

A dead period is the same as a struggle. The offense needs to learn to play a whole game like the defense does. That includes the coaches.

Past their first possession (3 and out, I believe) they had a chance to take a lead for 1 play, in which they threw an int.
Let that sink in.

They scored on an unbelievable play as Black(& Blue)man was pounded...after 2 PIs and on a flea flicker, after they targeted our remaining starting corner Carter that may have affected our coverage. But we responded on offense and defense!

Some fans want perfection I guess. I didn't like the 2 fumbles inside the 5 but if we can do that and win by 17 with one of their TDs coming from a trick play it must mean we are pretty dang good. We can play better yes but it is a good thing that our best is yet to come.

Upon further review , it was amazing how accurately the Pigskin Prophet described how the game would play out. He's a modern day Nostradamus.

Excellent point. We left 14 points on the field via fumbles inside the 5. We got them back late in the game so the score was pretty indicative of our domination.

Turnovers kept them in the game longer than they should have been. End of story.

As tense as I stayed for the entire game, my vote would be that "we struggled". And when FSU had a really good chance to go ahead in the 4th, then we definitely were on pucker. Our D and their pathetic O saved that game for us.
I know we were missing a lot of players, but if Francois had been healthy and played, we would have lost that game.

a quick 17-0 lead at halftime at home while our young QB adjusted to their stout defense and the environment, then we brought it back to the point where we had the ball down 3 in a low scoring game halfway through the fourth quarter, would we say they struggled against us?

Francois being healthy would have helped FSU naught. Remember, he spent more time on his back last year than Blackmon did this year. What kind of experience is that? Even thou Frannie tried to act like J Winston on the sidelines, no one really paid any attention to him because he is no J Winston. Or a Kelly Bryant for that matter. In all I think KB and the "O" struggled about 30 seconds. That's the time it took for those two fumbles after driving beautifully down the field. The fumble at mid-field? FSU was going for the ball on every chance they had and stuff happens. If KB had laid down on the first hit and not "struggled", perhaps no fumble.
