This could be a disaster

Says that SEC will have their network up and running by 2014, says that first year revenue could be $360 million for the conference. If that happens the "arms race" won't be much of a race, we will be outspent by such an extreme amount that it will take years to recover.

No worries. Dabo says we're fine and 1,000,000,0000%

committed to this crap conference and leaving would be the biggest mistake we could ever make. Happy days are here again!!!

This is one of the dumbest articles I've ever read. The SEC is not getting $3 a month. Why does NESN get $3 per month? They air 162 Red Sox games in Boston. Why does CSN Washington get $3 per month? They air 82 Capitals games & 82 Wizards games.

Look at this list of subscriber fees. http://staatalent.com/2012/headlines/espn-big-leader-in-subscriber-fees/

The only way the SEC gets $3 per million is if they take top games from ESPN. AND if they do that, ESPN has to sacrifice ratings and would take a huge cut of the revenue, similar to Fox gets 49% of BTN revenues.

And if they do charge $3 per subscriber, it's going to end up on a sports tier and only sports fans will buy it. In Alabama, sure that's everybody. But it's not everyone in Texas. It's not everyone in Florida. It's not everyone in Georgia.

To say your math is flawed would be polite.

They're counting on $0.25/month from 120 million subs.

Sounds steep on the subscriber number. Plus advertising maybe? Then there's always that tricky part about overhead and production costs and such, staffing, etc. It's likely going to do well, but it will be a few years following before programs start getting funds from it.

No need to panic, but no need to sit around complacently either.

They already have their own network, it's called ESPN.***
