How can you tell Dabo was the problem?

Because a good coordinator calls plays that his players are comfortable with. When DJ was in the play calling was very bland and 1 dimensional. I admit I was the first to call for Streeter to be fired.
But when Cade came in the first call was an RPO. Something that DJ rarely got.
And the playbook expanded from there.
It wasn't Streeter who was keeping a sub-par QB in. It was Dabo himself.

It seems more likely that Dabo and Streeter agreed.

Accusing Dabo of not keeping his word to play the best and every job is open ever week is quite an impeachment of his character. Is that where's you're going with this?
Oh, I've done it too.

I never know where I'm going with my points

but for this one the point is Streeter knew the limits of DJ and called plays based on that.
With Cade in he knew Cade was more capable of more complex plays.
You can't run RPO's with a QB who stares down receivers until they are open.

Was thinking that was kind of the downfall of the win

Even with CK doing much better, I still think Streeter's playcalling is pretty bad and it helped that the UNC defense is hot garbage. Dabo might have been more willing to make the change if we had laid an egg again on offense but now he probably thinks all is well and will run it back the exact same next year on offense.
Feel the same way about Goodwin - defense was getting pretty carved up but we got pretty lucky that UNC puked all over itself in the redzone. Pretty worried about what this defense will look like next year with all of the DL departures

We don't really know what plays were called for DJ.

An offensive coordinator rarely calls the play 'look confused, hold the ball too long, and take a sack'.

How would a coordinator or assistant every have authority

over the head coach for who is playing? Who's on the field is always the head coach's responsibility.

It all depends on staff. Sometimes the HC

allows the coordinator to decide who's starting. Some staffs the HC wants final say. Either way the coordinators suggest.
I've had times myself where I told the HC either Player A gets benched or you can call the plays yourself.

I'm choosing to withhold judgement on Dabo here for one main

reason. I have a feeling Dabo sold his soul to get DJ to Clemson. What promises he made, I have no clue. But I do know Dabo, and I know how promises work, and long term, you keep them, even at a short term price. Again, I have no idea, but I can only assume promises were made, and obviously DJ didn't deliver. And that's fine, but Dabo will deliver on his I'm sure. He has a program to run that's more important than a QB, or even a coordinator.
Yes, the playcalling was horrible, probably because DJ was horrible. Streeter may be a good OC given the talent his predecessor had at QB and the skill positions. I don't know. He called a very good game against UNC, the best playcalling I've seen this year. DJ never had his head in the game, and I think he had some family issues that may have messed him up. We take these players for granted they will come out and play, yet we have no clue what's actually going on in their lives. DJ's parents got divorced a year or two ago, and that may have been a factor.
But I'm not going to sit here and judge at this point as I see a speed bump in a program that's still the best in the ACC and a top 10 program. And next year looks to be better. So I'm not going to rant and rave. That's above my paygrade.

are no rational explanations, given what we know. Either somebody has ceased to be who they have always been, or there is something we don't know. As angry as I want to be about what might have been, I'm choosing to believe the latter. The only thing I would say directly to Dabo is to stop thinking the fans are losing confidence or are turning against him. That is simply not true. We just don't understand, and people will naturally fill that vacuum with speculation.

breaking another 5 star qb?
Heard over weekend, DJ in practice is DJ from ND his freshman year. Just when gametime, he crumbles. Think that UGA broke his football soul.
Cade comes in against ND, throws pick first series. Devil's advocate here, but maybe they were afraid of him doing something similar against a big game with USC?
Maybe I'm reaching here

and would be a much easier entry point than against a decent S Car defense.
Gene Chizik is a Qb whisperer or sorts.
