I am still waiting on an intelligent argument about why Clemson should leave the ACC. Garbage conference? Not hardly. We currently have 5 teams in the Top 25. SEC has 6, as does the Pac12. Of course, SEC has more teams, so not apples and oranges.
Leaving the ACC to join Big10 is ignorant. No geographic fit. No rivalries or anything else. Are you morons going to travel to Rutgers, Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa, for away games? Of course not!
Oh yeah, "the money". Clemson, in 2020, ranked 10th in revenue of all Div 1 teams. We have the second highest paid coach, one of the best facilities in the nation, and the highest paid assistance coach. Clearly, money is NOT an issue. But, oh yeah, "the money". If revenue made any difference at all, Indiana, Rutgers, Iowa, Mich St., and the rest of the sucka$$ big10 not named Michigan or Ohio State - would all be vying for the B10 title every year. Guess what, geniuses? They are not! So, there goes your theory that "the money" is what makes the difference. Money has not made Minn. any better - they still suck... as does the theory that leaving for more money is somehow going to make Clemson better off.
Name a SINGLE team that has changed conferences and improved their position? I'm listening . . . but hearing crickets!! How about Texas A&M? Nope. Had more money than King Solomon before they left B12. Suck in the SEC now . . . "but the money". "The money" has not done a single thing for them, nor any other team that has changed conferences. Nebraska come to mind?

You mean the league we are going to finish in the bottom third of? If we were performing at the level of 3 maybe even 2 years ago I would say go for it. We would be getting destroyed each week in the SEC or the BIG this year.

Academics are more important than sports for a school's mission - but for athletic conference membership and participation they don't matter at all. The only reason people tout it is for prestige and to compensate for athletic underachievement. The whole point of athletic conferences is for competition, not academic prestige.

I actually think he appears to be if not smarter than Dabo at least he’s a realist.
His quote about adding members where he says if you don’t go on the offensive in todays world then you’ll get left behind.
Dabo needs to take that same advice and look in the mirror.
Phillips may be taking a shot at Clemson/FSU/NC which sounds desperate but at least he tried to do something and keep up with the times.

You may want to rethink those comments. He’s been on the job for over two years and only now, when it becomes apparent the ACC will be losing members, does he and his merry band of presidents decide to “go on the offensive”. And what do they do? They add 3 schools with weak football programs that NO ONE ELSE WANTED. That’s like Dabo saying he’s going on the offensive and signing three 2 star OL from Canada.
The real opportunity was when the Big 12 was falling apart. There were options. Also they could have gotten creative after USC and UCLA jumped ship and created a stronger conference with a solid west coast block of schools that made sense. Box in and cripple the Big 12. But instead EVERYTHING the ACC has done has been reactionary.
