phone, and I ain't crazy about laptops with the little finger-pad thingy, either. Of course I've had to use them many times over the years, working for s/w companies, traveling for business, etc. But at home, I have a bigazzz keyboard, and a regular old mouse on a pad. It's just easier to use, IMHO.

take them apart and put in new stuff, build our own, etc.
Like my dad knew more about cars than I did. they broke down all the time when he was young - had to know how to fix them.
These days kids plug in a computer and it just works.

XYZ/whatevers who can't find their local Walmart without GPS, even though they've been there a 1000 times. The ones who sit at green lights until someone finally blows the horn, and only 3 cars make it through the intersection instead of 15. They're all suffering from CPS (Cell Phone Stupor) They just can't take their eyes off it. Not even for a second.
You go to the Post Office and there's no parking spots available, cars are lined up waiting for one. You look around, and half the cars are just sitting there while the driver is suffering CPS. They're done at the PO, they've got their mail, they're just sitting in their cars now texting or scrolling Facebook. You just want to punch every one of them right in the mouth...
You go into a restaurant and see a group of 4 guys at a table. They sit there for an hour and never say a word to each other. They're all deep into CPS mode. Cant take their eyes off their phone. Why did they even bother to come together for lunch? What's the point?
Eff it, I could go on forever. I'll just go watch the first 5 minutes of Idiocracy again...

I've started calling them "pacifiers"

I go out every chance I can without my cellphone because I HATE PHONES MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD (I digress, that's my own psychosis). I always kid my friends and co-workers when we are about to go somewhere, I ask "Got your pacifier?".
It seldom goes over well.....but that's EXACTLY what it is, an adult pacifier. Some folks go into absolute panic attacks if they are separated from them. Have you seen these people? LOL. Fortunately for me, I spent a large portion of my young life not umbilically attached to one of these things, so I am fine - actually HAPPIER - when mine is not around. Others, well, not so much.

and leave my cell phone at home. I just don't NEED IT that badly. If I miss a couple calls or texts... so what? I'll respond later when I'm in the mood. There's only about a million-in-one chance that there was a real emergency that I missed... like, a close relative died, or my house burned down. And getting that info earlier changes nothing anyway... it's already happened and too late.
Having a cell phone surgically attached to my body is just not me. I'm guess I'm just not wired that way.

I've found that I get the most efficient movement with my mouse with a mousepad underneath.
when I'm in the home office, I got one. When I travel I don't. The skipping and interference from various issues when working on different surfaces is unacceptable over a long period of time.
