Does the NFL not stop the clock on a 1st down?

Hence why it was silly to run with 14 seconds and no timeouts.

Nope, that is just one of the things they do differently

than the college game, to try and shorten the total time of games. If they DID stop the clock after first downs, as efficient as some of these teams are at running the "two minute offense", I do believe there would be some very different outcomes.

Nope and the clock does not start after a player being tackled goes out of bounds like college. The ref followed the rule, the Cowboys blew it and Dak is a hood for his comments.

It was a dumb call by McCarthy and Dak executed it poorly

There are a few dumb timing issues imo in both college and nfl. One being the clock running and the umpire standing there holding up the play for substitutions in the college game. Any first down for either imo should stop the clock seeing you have to reset the chains. That one is common sense to me but they never asked me. So here we are.
