Play call was a WR bubble screen in the other direction?

Or we run it down the opposing teams throat with a RB all the way down the field, then take him out and put somebody else in?

Have we ever thrown long out of that look this year? Would be great to do so in the bowl.

Depends ... if it went for big yardage, folks would love it

but, if the blocking broke down and the throw was late and behind the receiver resulting in a loss ... then we all know the answer.
Coaches make play calls, but players make plays.

By that logic coaches are never wrong?

Everybody makes mistakes, but more times than not when things go wrong it’s because players fail to execute a play that the coach called.
Many people here and elsewhere are very quick to claim that players like Deshaun and Trevor masked alleged coaching deficiencies of Tony Elliott through sheer ability to make plays.
Maybe so.
Players make plays. Not coaches.

That’s not DueWest is trying to say. You can coach up and develop players but you expect them to execute the plays. For example all the passing problems are not the Oc’s fault. Player’s make bad throw’s, WR’s drop very catchable passes or run the wrong route, blocks are missed, players fumble the ball all mistakes you can’t blame coaches for.
Let’s get that winning spirit back. Let’s have move positive post on Tigernet. Let’s go that mojo back that gets the attention of students and recruit’s!

Absolutely! The blocking is crucial. But, also ...
Dec 18, 2021, 12:52 PM
|
|
... the pass has to be on time and it has to lead the receiver.
If everything is clicking, it’s a highly effective play to call.
But, all (or some) of these things were usually missing this past season.
This is the thing about play calling ... these screens were brilliant calls when we had guys like Sammy Watkins out there with great blocking WRs like Charone Peake pancaking defenders.
The calls are less brilliant with our current personnel. This doesn’t mean they’re not still good plays ... it just means that our players aren’t executing them well enough.
Classic “chicken or egg” scenario.

I don't know who called it, but I kind of liked that first play we ran in the ACCCG against Pitt where ETN ran it in for a TD. That was a good call. I bet Shipley or Pace could do it if he calls that one.

I am placing my trust in Dabo. If he feels promoting from with in his program to replace BV and TE then I am “All In”. We need as fans to get that same energy and excitement back that we had during our time in the CFP’’s, if we expect the same from the players and coaches. The coaches and players need our support especially since players can easily switch to some programs who are pushing the boundaries and guidelines and using NIL and the TP for some kids who are to lazy to work harder for playing time and to improve their skills. They think the grass is always greener somewhere else. It’s easier just to hit the useless TP. What happened to Student Athlete’s?? I know of one KJ Henry. Congrats KJ.
I am still scratching my head as to why Ajou Ajou and others ended up transferring to an FCS school.
