Recruit star ratings. Who decides the number of stars a

recruit gets? Our offering Braylon Staley is what caused this question. He is a three star recruit yet he has offers from Alabama and Georgia. If schools lived by rating alone I doubt that Alabama, Georgia, Ohio St, etc. would even look at a three star. I remember hearing a recruiting analyst say that the “rafters” feel like each state should have at least one five star and several four stars. He went on to say that Clowney was probably the last legitimate five star this state has had in awhile. I would love to see, since the ratings began, the all time Three Star and Below teams for Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio St, Florida, FSU, etc. Grady Jarrett, Hunter Renfrow, Christian Wilkes (?), etc.

all the camps, or isn’t in a highly visible program, he very often gets rated low based no real first-hand data.

Also, schools like Alabama and Georgia are known to hand out non-commitable offers that are maybe contingent on the school missing on their higher regarded offers. In other words, “We like you, but just how much we like you remains to be seen.”

Clemson appears to be a program that doesn’t play the “non-commitable offer” game to any great extent.

This is just one guys observation and opinion.

to allocate according to the knowledge they don't have - and new stars are being discovered everyday so they get bonus stars later on to correct for the knowledge they still don't know...HTH

I don’t think Wilkins was a 3 star.
