One thing people are missing about Cade last night

17

Sep 8, 2024, 9:12 PM

Were the pump fakes. It bought him time & it made safeties bite just enough for Cade to throw it to the other side of the field.

That was a totally different QB on the field last night.

Felt like Cade's coming out party last night. You know those games where you're like WOW, that dude is a gamer and I'm glad he's our guy.
- DW4 had it against UNC/NCST as a FR.
- TL16 had it against GT as a FR.

Honestly, I thought that moment for Cade was UNC in the ACC championship but that may have been more to do with UNC not prepping for him and Cade catching lightning in a bottle that night because we never really saw that kind of dominance again from Cade last year.

However, last night might've been the page turn we've been waiting for. Man, wish we could have them play again next week to find out!

Was at the ACC Champ game and I too had a similar thought and compared it to last night...not even close to the same. ACC champ game were at best 50/50 heavs, these were pump fake look offs thrown on a rope!
That dude just turned the page last night! Game on!

I think that most of us felt that he was a good QB, it just took him a few minutes more for the game to actually slow down a little for him. I hope that he can keep it working for himself!!!

Agreed but some of us thought the same about DJ but the light never came on for him. Our experience with DJ made us wonder the same about Cade as we were snake bit.

The common denominator with the UNC game and Saturday was Cade actually had receivers that were going up and getting balls! That has been a problem for him and made him look worse than he is.

Completely different QB than at any point in his Clemson career

Great to see. Having talent at WR makes a difference.

I also wonder if Garrett was leading the charge more on playcalling. At the game, I didn’t notice Dabo doing much pre-snap, and I rewatched the game today and noticed the camera on GR during playcalling with Dabo just onlooking & not interjecting much. I’m sure he still did and it could just have been the times he was not actively communicating with GR.

There is a different dynamic in play this year....

Sep 9, 2024, 2:39 AM

...with the coach to QB in-helmet communication setup. Looks like Riley will have command of that.

I know it’s a popular myth but Hood has confirmed Dabo was not calling plays for CGR. Like all HCs, I am sure Dabo asserted himself from time to time but not every play as some think

Yes, I was aware of that. Just seemed like he was still less involved than normal. I was never in the camp that Dabo was undermining GR, just found it interesting he seemed to barely even talk into the headset during play calls.

Agreed, and I think it was a couple of things.

Like you said, the WRs FINALLY stepped up (and the best ones got to play).

Then, he finally has a legit O-Line in front of him.

Finally, for whatever reason, maybe the embarrassment against UGA did it and he'd just had enough, last night the light came on. He may never have a game that good again, but hopefully the page has been turned.

Above all else, love and forgive. Understand that people who disagree with you are not necessarily idiots or your enemies. Respect the wisdom of the founding fathers and individual rights and freedoms. Always see the beauty and humor in life.

Oh I'm sure that the UGA game hurt a lot of feelings that they won't soon forget!!!

Every WR stepped up...they all looked like what we've expected...split stool and he killed em...maybe DJ can watch Cades game film at FSWTC and pick up a few pointers!

That became obvious by watching the actual plays that were called. Pass after pass with an occasional run mixed in whereas Dabo calls middle run after middle run with an occasional WR screen pass mixed in. Air Raid vs. Dirt Raid. It was very obvious who was calling the shots.

The team certainly played great.

No doubt.

Personally, I'm not getting overly excited.

Each game is about the matchup.

App. St. was outmanned across the board.

We were basically outmanned vs Georgia.

We will face some more much stronger teams this season.
