There aren't 12 teams worthy of the CFP

Nearly every year of the CFP, there have only been 2 or 3 legit contenders.. no different this year.

Aside from Oregon, there really isn’t anyone that stands out as a juggernaut in my opinion

This was my original statement back when they announced the 12 team playoff. On a good year, there would be 5 maybe 6 actual legitimate contenders for a national championship but really only 3 or 4 consistently.12 though? No way. Blowouts and lopsided games are gonna happen more frequently now. Expecting all these games to be close is foolish.

Tell me who's definitively #2. I think there are at least a half dozen teams that would have a punchers chance against Oregon - including a couple that didn't make the CFP.
Heck, the advanced metrics don't even agree that Oregon is #1. Im pretty sure they would be underdogs to a few teams right now.

As long as the best 2 deserving get in thats all that matters.

Oregon getting in is 90% of the job already. Throw in UGA, Ohio State and Notre Dame just to make sure. Nobody else deserves a chance to complain. No 2 loss team has any right to complain. Notre Dame would be my #2 at this point for one loss.

Exactly. #4 seed never won. Chances for #5 - #12 to win is ridiculous. The fact there’s so much talk on who’s left out is mind-boggling.

Since this is all about money, both teams from the SEC and BIG championship game should be admitted to the playoff. Teams three and four should play a game on the same weekend to see who gets to be the third team.
This way they each get four teams every year and the fourth team out has nothing to complain about because they lost on championship Saturday
And if you don’t finish in the top four teams of your league, do you really have that much of an argument to complain about not getting into the “national playoff field.”
2015 to 2018 there really weren’t other teams that belonged on the field for a playoff, except Clemson and Alabama

Same as NFL, which they are evidently trying to mimic in college football. They are already lobbying to make it 20 teams, where the top 4 keep the Round 1 bye. We have already opened Pandora’s box, but Inhope it stays at 12.

The difference is that in the nfl a 9-7 wildcard team can go on a run to the Super Bowl.
In the NCAA tournament, a 14 can beat a 3 and people love it. No one says the 14 lucked out and didn’t deserve to be there in the first place.
So far, the big underdogs have proven themselves to be outclassed. Hopefully that trend changes this afternoon.

The reason for that is because of the 100+ years of college football history, where teams got appointed as champions based on name recognition. The longer you have an expanded playoff, and more teams have a legitimate shot, you will see more teams become competitive.
