How the ACC can respond...

it can add Notre Dame and Penn State.
That would be an awesome conf. and still much easier path for us to be in the BCS.
I'd def go to Notre Dame and Penn State for road trips. Would be awesome.

but could you ever envision a scenario where Notre Dame or Penn State would join a conference where football was not the primary focus.

and if the ACC doesn't see that and change gears then they deserve to have whatever happens to them. I can't envision though that they wouldn't shift focus. It's too apparent and they like their jobs.

Offer them a bigger share to join. After they join I think the ACC could renegotiate their contract and possibly get more money to offset them getting the bigger share.

If the new proposal for the BCS comes back without the

requirement for conference championship, there is no way that Notre Dame is joining. They would be sacrificing $10-12 million annually of what they would get on their own in order to subsidize half of the ACC's member programs. That is not going to happen.

and if they get to keep it all now as an independent and not share everything, it makes absolutely no sense for them to join a conference for football, none at all. They are not the Sisters of Charity, they're Notre Dame.

college football, and ND produces plenty of TV eyeballs every time they take the field. I don't understand the reasoning that their contract with NBC will go away when it expires in 2015. It is likely to only increase according to the price levels being established, and they don't have to give half of it to the Dukes, Wakes and UVA's of the world.

The biggest problem we are having is the money issue. You are looking at our side if we could get ND and Pen.St. to join. Now look at it from their side. They would have to bring in enough money for them to be at 25+ million with enough left over to bring the other 12 members up to 25+ million. That would mean those 2 program alone would have to bring in over 150 million dollars on their own and give 100 million away. That is not going to happen!

Wallace, what I am saying is that we are at 16 million per team right now in the ACC. We are saying if we go to the big 12 we would be at 25 million. To bring in Pen.St.and ND to keep the ACC and stay on par with the 25 million per team,Pen.St. and ND would be counted on to at least bring 25 million each to cover them and 9 million more each of the other 12 teams to get to 25 million each. Pretty simple math to me!

I don't think chickens can fly. Point is, Penn State is a Big 10 school whose fans are not clamoring on message boards to take a pay cut and join an inferior football conference. Let's get real here.

The ACC could have done last year what the Big 12 is about to do now.. and it didnt. So it deserves what is coming if it indeed happens.
