The team looks good, but

8

Jan 11, 2023, 11:32 PM

All those empty seats look terrible and the IPTAY people just sitting there is highly discouraging of where the Clemson Fans are today. If you cannot make the game, sell your tickets or at least give them away. We were better fans in the early to mid 70s with half as many students and not as good of teams.
It has got to get better!

Wednesday night, 9pm, against the worst P5 team in the country while school is not in session. Can’t expect it to be full.

Some of them are waiting on this team to prove something before they will show up. I mean, starting 5-0 in ACC play isn’t that great, we do it all the time. Plus, we are boring to watch, it was a school night, a 9:00 PM start at that, and Louisville isn’t an exciting opponent. Also, many fans spent their money on the Orange Bowl. Plus, they were staying home to see what Ngata’s decision would be for next year, and they are gearing up for the next football signing day.

I'm sorry. Just woke up and hit TD button!***

Pathetic attendance tonight. Louisville fans that were beside me commented on it too.

Going for a school record 6-0 start and seats were half empty by tip off. Sad.

Judge, to be a true Clemson fan, you go to support the Tigers, not to be entertained. That many empty seats on the first day of classes is pathetic. We used to pretty much fill, at least, 80% of the seats every game in the early 70s and the teams were not that good. Come on Tiger fans, support the team.

It was definitely embarrassing. However, the students weren’t the problem

Sure seemed like most of them were back on campus to me. Downtown was packed for a Wednesday night.

However, I do hate how they shuffled the seating arrangements inside LittleJohn. I miss the old LittleJohn environment where they had student sections behind both of the baskets. I like that they moved the students down closer on the side of the court, but why didn’t they put the students behind the team benches? Makes no sense to me. The old LJ was so much louder and dare I say, hostile.

A lot of the fans who comment on this board are either bandwagon fans or are too young to have any perspective. Some only follow the football team and could care less about other sports. Their self image can't handle pulling for a sub-par team (or simply one that is not winning the championship every other year). They will only cheer for a team when there's something in it for them. Some of us have battled through the ups and downs of Danny Ford and Cliff Ellis (or earlier coaches). Ken Hatfield and Rick Barnes. Tommy West and Larry Shyatt. Tommy Bowden and Oliver Purnell. How dare we lose three football games? How do I dare cheer for a basketball team that's not a name brand? Where are all of our Clemson football fans who cheer for Duke or UNC basketball? Loyalty, no, never heard of it. A championship shirt to wear to my kid's weekend basketball game or to the barber shop, yes. My team is always the winner! In other news, there is some fresh Patriots gear at Goodwill this morning if anyone needs a new look. It no longer matches the new Chiefs gear - colors clash.

I’ve been a Clemson fan since I was born. 4th generation ( all of us went to Clemson), but I live 3 hours away. I’ve never been a huge watcher of basketball; football and baseball are more my thing. I would definitely go to the basketball games if I was in the upper state though

I was in school when we had Hootie for football and Locke for basketball. These people who are not showing up because our opponent is not doing well is a poor excuse for a fan. If you are going to buy season tickets, make sure they get used. How one does that is up to each of us. I have lived in the Low country since I left Clemson in 75 and I made sure that my football tickets were always used. I even gave two tickets, to what turned out to be the Puntrooskie Game, to a local high school to raffle off to raise funds for their athletic dept. I have given tickets away to games I could not make due to work and all I expected was a thanks. Just support the Tigers with both funds, if you can afford it, and with your voice and body when it is available. I am an old man now and cannot walk those hills anymore, so cheer for me, please.

I think attendance in general is down at pretty much all sporting events. There are way more options for entertainment now and you can watch almost any event on tv or streaming unlike in the past when there were only a few stations.

Even when the Iptay folks sell their tickets they jack up the prices so high no one will buy them.

Saturday's Duke game should be a full house and raucous. If not, then we really do have a problem...
