The Stat of the season last night that kind of just sums up

Brandon Streeter
I know everyone saw it, but can we all digest this a little bit? I feel like this is something that should have come up by press before last night
Clemson is one of 5 teams to not record a 100 yard receiving game by a WR. We went from WRU to one of the worst programs in the country at that spot.
I don't even know how Streeter, Grisham, and crew were able to pull that off. Thats tough to do.

Dude i have been a member of this board for almost 2 decades. If I am playing some type of sabotage effort then this is the longest play of all time.
Maybe i just think Streeter sucks at his job.
I mean that would be the most obvious answer for anyone with common sense.

And let’s don’t ignore the obvious. Dabo is deeply involved in the playcalling and the offense in general. That’s one reason he rarely criticizes it. But he will blast the defense in the media!

We distribute the ball more than any other team.

When you have a couple TEs, three WRs and an RB who can catch a pass you have the luxury of calling passing plays according to what the defense you face is incapable of defending.
I'm guessing you though you knew something more steeped in stats than the rest of us. Coots be that way. They C&P some nonsense from other websites and post as original thoughts but they don't have the mental capacity or the understanding to reckon if it's right or just going to expose their ignorance of the game.

This reply is 100 percent a load of bs. We definitely DO NOT distribute the ball more than any other team. Our TEs have been non existent until last night after a two week hiatus. I cannot remember the last time i saw a RB catch a wheel route of any kind....or even produce a positive gain off of a catch.

You're acting like we are the only team with TEs and an RB who can catch.
If you can't see the drop-off in WR, then I have no idea what to tell you.
Any rational fan would know that after our clear #1 WR BY FAR was playing high school last year.
The coot label for anyone with a critical eye is getting old, also.

While I agree with the fact that the stat is horrible - It's not easy to have a 100 yard receiver when your QB is consistently throwing for less than 200 yards a game. Don't know if it is as much on streeter as it is DJ. Doesn't seem like we have hit a deep ball in ages but we have thrown downfield.

Yep! There something about winning that many can’t understand! Usually found in losers!
IF Clemson was 4 and 5 right now I’d be really upset about a lot of things .. including the assistant coaches. Instead I think I’ll continue to support the Clemson Tigers as I have since 1960! Go Tigers .Beat the Canes

A stat that would be interesting to see alongside is where we rank nationally in average number of different receivers to catch a pass per game. We seem to have a pretty long list of different receivers appearing each week in the box score. Opposing OC's have commented on our unpredictability on offense, and the various looks we throw out from game to game. It could be that our lack of identity on offense this season is somewhat by design.

Where are we that talented on offense? WR? OL? QB? We have a good running back room and one WR who has really stood out. I also like our TEs and wished we used them more. Other than that, I think it might be a stretch to say we are "talented" on offense. Tennessee/TCU/OSU/Oregon are talented on offense. That is the bar we are trying to reach again.

When we play a team with anything close to our talent level, we lose (Notre Dame). And we sometimes struggle with teams with far less talent (Wake Forest, Florida State).
That’s just this season. We won’t talk about last season.

Watch the TN offense and you will see what we used to look like with DW & TL leading the way complemented by a great crop of WRs. However, that can't be the expectation, nor should it be, when the talent isn't there. You have to run with what you have and plan accordingly.

Yeah between Streeter and Dabo they have our O players completely spinning wheels. With the RBs we have it’s pitiful we can’t throw over the middle and get into any rhythm. Teams have to take special consideration for our running game which leaves the pass wide open. Yet we don’t have a QB that can make the throws unless it’s his first option.

We don’t throw down field much because DJ has no field awareness, if his first read is not open 90% of the time it becomes an adventure.

Agreed, but there also seems to be an overall lack of creativity in scheming ways of getting that lead receiver open. Zero confidence in getting consistent throws downfield too resulting in way too many screens and 4 yards out patterns.

There is a "lack of creativity" with the scheme because the current players can't execute anything more creative.

Here’s my take for what it’s worth. Louisville played 2 out to cover the sidelines where we throw the most. Then they stack the box. Qb has a strong arm and the middle of the field is wide open. Why do we not utilize the middle of field. Guess what it will also help the running game. What we r running is a very simple conservative scheme
