The idiots who thought it was a good idea to hire a woke CEO @ Cracker Barrell deserve the Bud Light treatment.

Just go out of business.

teacher about the logo.

"I worked as a commercial artist and illustrator before I began teaching Art in public school, and off and on over the many years while also teaching. My thoughts about the Cracker Barrel controversy do not center on the perceived “political/ social” aspects of the actions of the CEO. My thoughts are more specifically aimed at the decline in support of “hands-on” artists and craftsmen today. The removal of “Uncle Herschel” and the barrel from Cracker Barrel’s logo, leaving only the lettering not only provides less communication to the viewer regarding the nature of Cracker Barrel’s atmosphere and products, but minimizes the importance of the role of the visual artists like the original one who created the image. Artists are already facing threats from A.I. which is “artificial” in the truest sense of the word! I celebrate truly creative, original, handmade art - it’s what I’ve done my entire career! I shudder to think that the upcoming generations will be taught that ALL important art is to be created while sitting at a computer keyboard! Computer art has its place. But, like peanut brittle, it shouldn’t ever be the only choice on the menu! Will grocery store products follow suit, giving us only “generic” packaging? Will future generations of kids miss the excitement of seeing Tony the Tiger or Toucan Sam on their cereal boxes??!!Grouchy old man venting!"

For you old timers, it kinda reminds me of the publicity stunt Coke pulled years ago when they replaced Coke with New Coke (that tasted similar to Pepsi), then switched back to the original formula with Coca-Cola Classic a short time later and it increased sales.

Just look at what $700mil can get you for new branding ideas! I can't imagine a CEO spending that amount of money to watch your stock drop $143mil in a wk. As they say, Go Woke, Go Broke!. You would have thought there were enough case studies over last few yrs to show the stupidity in these rebranding moves.

I wish Uncle Ben's, Land O Lakes, Aunt Jemima and others would do the same thing and go back to their roots.

Really? Removing the old 'White Cracker' in the chair from the logo. Removing the old southern decor to remodel making it look like Pier One Imports inside. They already tried adding Pride painted rocking chairs to multiple locations.

Uhm, actually just the opposite! Shows that you have no clue. The stock tanked first then rose several percent just as soon as Trump put in his Tweet suggesting they go back to what worked and use this stunt as a "billion dollar advertising campaign!" Looks like Trump's suggestion immediately helped CB.

Also, people obviously didn't want modern or they would eat somewhere else. What dont you get about the nostalgia of CB?

I get the nostalgia, but nostalgia wasn’t working for them. Look at their share price the last 5 years. Something had to change. Will the rebrand attract more customers? Maybe, maybe not, but they had to do something different.

I had this debate with friends yesterday. CB’s stock has been going down for years as have their profits. Revenue has grown incrementally but it seems inflation has been eating them up and tastes may have changed. In the last week or so the stock has fluctuated but in the big picture not that much. I think rebrand or not they have tough competition and are in for a rough few years. All the merchandise in the store part of CB is money tied up in inventory unless it’s selling briskly. It’s a tough situation to be in.

"geriatric country folk" as you call them are the only ones who own homes and have disposable income. Younger families don't have that thanks to 4 years of Biden and the democRATS rising costs including Houses/rent,Food,insurance etc. Why would you tick off a good portion of your customer base by looking ageist and removing an old man from your logo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Aug 27, 2025, 7:46 PM

HTH. Also many younger people like myself have disposable incomes, but I’m not going to go to Cracker Barrel because I have no interest in going to an old folks home. And sure, they could have not taken the risk and kept the status quo, and their share price would continue to sink like it has the last 5 years. Idiocracy would be continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result.

Wasn't going to keep me from occasionally dining there as long as the food stayed the same but if it ain't broke don't fix it. I was in a CB a few weeks ago and they had completely painted the inside grey changing it from the stained barrel look it always had. It looked terrible. That was another major what made there stores so neat. The barrell look and all the neat (cheap) nick nacks they sold in it. What a fail and I hope they haven't done that to all of them yet. And hope they can get the ones they did back to the cool stained wood look.

Don’t exactly understand why people thought it was woke. It was definitely bland, but that’s not the same. Just seemed like corporate vanilla schlock aimed at mass appeal and reproducibility. Unless they improve their food and their interiors, I’m not going back anyway. Weird that food and interiors which have a much more profound impact on my experience went by virtually unnoticed by media, but a logo change that aligned with app style block design flipped over the whole company. Strange time to be alive.
