DaQuan was the projected #1 pick at one point in his junior year. Everyone knew he was gone and I guess he just bought in the fact that he would be the 1st overall pick. However, injuries caused him to fall to the second round. Its kind of bad luck but do y'all think he could've been an early pick if he stayed? I don't know, but he left when he was unhealthy, causing him to lose millions. I think he could've recovered and played his senior year and been an early pick.

It's definitely a hard subject for those of us on the outside looking in to debate. I feel like, if healthy and one of the best like Sammy, Nuk, Tajh and CJ, you have to look at your personal situation both in school and outside and decide whether you can make it another year and/or if that extra year can benefit your status (or hurt it). Nuk probably knew he wouldn't benefit academically (maybe not even be eligible?) from staying another year and that he had tapped most of his potential at this level on the field (but who's to say he might not have done even better this year the way our guys are going). The same can be said for Sammy at the moment (not academically for him, he's just that good on the field and scouts are already drooling over him). What does a college degree do for guys like them? Saying this actually goes against a lot of what I believe because if a career in the NFL fizzles out early, what are you left with? A name and former NFL player only gets you so far.
I feel like Daquan would have benefited from staying for his senior year because he was just starting to come into his own (remember the questions about maturity and scratching the surface of his projected talent?) and because of the injury. He could have used the off-season to get healthy again and then show everybody what he could do. BUT who is to say the injury wouldn't hurt him even worse his senior year so he might have made it worse.
Bottom line, I agree with Dabo because I feel very rarely does someone hurt their draft prospects by staying an extra year to work on their skills... especially for someone like Bryant and Beasley who are just starting to hit their stride at THIS level.

Injury was a fluke thing.
I think it's clear at this point that Bowers wasn't ready for the NFL - injury or not.
That said, Sammy is much more refined at his craft. Bowers was a run-stopping DE that got a lot of hype for a sack stat that everyone knew would never translate to the NFL.
I see where you're coming from, but different scenarios IMO

I just feel like sometimes kids get their hopes up in their junior year by the occasional moron who looks just at physical ability instead of steady production, intelligence, whether or not they can translate to NFL, etc. Like Im sure Martavis could be an elite WR down the road but before Thursday, he was losing more and more PT to a true freshman. He's just not ready mentally in my opinion. DaQuan wasn't either but bought into all the hype. Thats the problem with releasing draft boards a year and half in advance.

It is a chronic degenerative condition, similar to what ended Brandon Roy's career in the NBA.
