Napier = Scott?

Maybe I'm too young to remember how bad Napier was, but how does Napier reflect directly on how Scott may/will perform?
Disclaimer: this is a totally non-aggressive post. I'm genuinely curious.

Napier would have succeeded had he been given one more year.

He didn't have the personnel that Chad had to start off with. Jeff starts off with a team LOADED and with Clemson's BEST recruiting class ever on the way.

No similarities. I want to hire Scott.

Kyle Parker was pretty good that year for a freshman QB also. 46th in total offense in 2009 with those players.
2010 - 82nd in total offense. Yeah we Spiller and Ellington was hurt for a few games, but the offense was difficult to watch that year. I'm not sure what anyone saw out of Napier to suggest he just needed one more season.

Dabo and Napier weren't on the same page with respect

to what they wanted to do with the offense. That is a difficult problem to overcome.

Napier wasn't prepared for this like Scott. Scott will be outstanding, in my opinion.

I didn't mean this to be an indictment on Scott

I just never saw anything out of Napier and i feel like there's some revisionist history going on around here in regards to him.

We didn't really have any WRs that year

Still should've been a lot better than that.
Even with the injuries, the inexperience, the lack of talent at RB, and the lack of depth at QB, we finished this year at 410 yards per game and 30 points per game. Napier could only manage 24 points per game and 335 yards per game in 2010.

The only similarity is the position that they held before

they were named OC.
Napier was hired in a pinch mid season when it was clear that Coach Swinney needed to go in a different direction than Spence. He was not prepared and as a result his offense had no clear identity.
Scott has been groomed for the position over the last four years. The system has developed over that time with input from Coach Scott. There will be very little, if any, change in the successful Clemson offense with Coach Scott.

I don't think so

There are some differences between the two.
Napier was tasked with installing an offense and had differences with Dabo in how it should be run.
Scott is tasked with maintaining and fine tuning an offense that is already established and Dabo is fully behind.
Napier was thrown into the job kind of quick after Spence was let go.
Dabo & Morris have been grooming Scott for the position as part of a succession plan for years.
