I'm going with the triple OT game in '05 versus Miami. I have never heard DV that loud. It was literally shaking. Had great 50 yard line seats in the lower bowl. Great game, that we unfortunately lost.

I might be wrong but didn't Joe Montana come in the game when their qb was injured? I was just a kid. Anyway we lost but we looked and played a great game.

Same.
It is funny to me that I equate that game with the Bama title game loss. To me, Bobbie and Nick get huge props for their unexpected calls. I look at this just the opposite. Both knew they were in deep trouble and they were going to lose if they didn’t do something. They both took the only viable option at their disposal.

I was gonna say the same game, I remember being in the stands and the play before the punt we almost intercepted the ball. A lot of the crowd thought we did as the ball was right in the arms of our defender. The next thing I know fsu was running down the sideline. Hated that game but it was exciting.

I've never been to a Clemson loss that I would consider a "good game." But I've sat through every single one with a single exception. I left the 70-33 Orange Bowl early in the 3rd quarter and got drunk in the parking lot.

'04 GT....Clemson up 24-14 until 1:50 left and GT makes it 24-21, Clemson botches a punt snap with under 20 seconds to go and Calvin Johnson rips our hearts out, We almost ran the ensuing kick back.
'07 BC...We just can't beat Matty Ice to go to the ACCCG...Kelly drops the TD and we miss the FG to tie it.
'09 TCU...Monsoon game with 2 ranked opponents and we control the game until the 4th quarter
'19 NC game LSU.....Game is tight in the 3rd quarter and we just can't do anything in the second half.

04 GT.. we gave that game away. Shut down Calvin Johnson till the last play.
07 BC... we gave that game away as well with a busted coverage and a dropped wide open pass.
09 TCU... reminded me of a couple games this year where we dominated in the stats but could not get the scores.
19 LSU... We just got plain beat in the second half.

Clemson shut down Calvin Johnson to the tune of 3 TD receptions with 2 of them in the last 5 minutes of the game.

1965 … we lost to the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. Quarterback Thomas Ray set passing records that day that stood for many years. The game ended with the Tar Heel defenders kicking up goal line (yellow) chalk as they wrestled the Tiger to the ground. Amazing …

1977 when we played Notre Dame. Dan Devine had complained that Death Valley was too loud and asked that we not be so boisterous, so the band went on the field with their instruments in place, but played no music. The stands faked clapping. When the game started, the stadium erupted. Clemson led after 3 quarters, but Joe Montana and ND came back to win and were national champions that year. I hated that we lost, but it was a fun game.

I still refer to that game as an example of great fan support, fun, and excitement. We just couldn't stop their tight end on that last drive. Another oldie was the 1957 Orange Bowl - particularly the second half where an interception on the last drive kept us from upsetting Colorado.

I second that, the ‘77 cU vs ND game. I hated that we lost but it was a great game to watch. I remember Dan Devine was so mad about a penalty I think he picked up the flag and shock it if I recall was awhile back then.

Clemson vs GT 2009 ACC Championship. It was a great game and CJ was playing his heart out scoring 4 TDs. We got a 4th and 1 stop then went down and scored. They then unfortunately drove all the way down the field to win the game. I was so mad!
Honorable Mention: Clemson vs BC in I believe 2017. Matt Ryan helped them win at the very end.

Got to be the 2005 loss to Miami in 3 OT's. Loud as He!! too. But, honestly, any home game in the Valley is a wonderful thing. Winning said home games is much better than losing said home games but there is no place on Earth any better than a Clemson Tiger home football game.

The 2010 overtime loss at Auburn 27-24
Nov 3, 2023, 11:41 AM

Had we won that game and Kyle Parker doesn't get hurt, there's no way we end up 6-7 that year. That was one of the hardest hitting games I've ever seen. Everybody left it on the field and it sucked to lose, but it was a great game.
Interestingly, Auburn went on to be undefeated and win a national championship.

.... was the 1993 game at FSU. (Side note - It was also the hottest game I have ever been through in my life.)
So, it has to be the best Clemson loss I have ever seen live.

Everyone came out of that feeling ok. People still watch the highlights of that game with less pain. It was the volume. Maybe the loudest in the history of the stadium.
Getting that 3 and out was amazing. The way it happened was perfect.

2015 title game vs Bama. Our team was darn good that year and Mack being hurt in that game was so tough to watch. Fought til the end and maybe I’m just biased but while watching the game, it felt like Saban & Kiffin had to dig down and pull out everything to win it. Also helped make 2016 in Tampa that much sweeter having been there to experience the 2015 loss in person.

Woody Dantzler vs Joe Hamilton. Two of the best QB's in the country in 1999. Woody and Joe were ahead of their time and could throw and run. I was on-site in Atlanta that day where Clemson never got many calls. But what an offensive show on both sides with back and forth swings! Dantzler could bench 405 lbs and would be one of the strongest and fastest players on the 2023 team. We could use him.

1984 in Athens. I had seats on the 45. My friend and I were saying there was no way he was going to make a 60 yarder. Many don’t remember we came real close to running the ensuing kickoff for a TD as time was running out

Also very soft spot for our first game following 911
We lost in the 4th to UVA But it was powerful and cathartic to me to hear everyone cheering for the Tigers together Needed that

I’ll never forget the ROAR in the stadium when Ben Boulware lit up Derrick Henry on 1st possession.
Felt proud leaving that game even though we lost

In Glendale Playing so well then Alexander goes down. I also think Lawson got injured Then the wheels came off and Bamas tight end torched us. Maybe Mayo?

The Pitt game was fun. Michigan losing later on that night helped with the sadness.
