Defense Wins Championships

The last 3 years I've seen little to no drop off from the defense. Last season they were elite.
I expect this season to be much of the same.
My question is and has been the offense the last few seasons. I hope its better, but either way I'm ready for Tiger Football!

On the Nate highlight where he runs down the UNC running back, he's also being held on the play. Just incredibly ridiculous speed.

QBs win championships. The team with the better QB play wins the game probably 80% or more of the time and this obviously leads to championship opportunities. Having an elite defense certainly doesn't hurt, but as football has become more passing game focused, at all levels, it really does usually come down to whose QB plays best.

We played several teams that had wayyy more productive QB play than what we have seen from the offense in the last 3 years.
None of those QB's did well against our secondary.
QB play is important and definitely where we lacked but if we had better QB play you would agree that our defense is what won most of the games we won last season.

Well you're comparing teams that limited in talent in other areas

Any team with a terrible OL will have a QB struggle.
When comparing play off caliber teams the one with the best QB is likely going to have the most success.

Sorry but tell this to the 2018 Alabama team. I'm pretty sure they will tell you how our defense gave Tua (an elite QB btw) fits all night.
Trevor just capitalized on momentum and good field position that night. Trevor himself even said the defense made this an easy one for me.

I'm saying 2018 Tua was a more experienced QB than Trevor was at the time.

I don’t disagree with your overall premise but defenses don’t win championships by themselves. The offense has to pull their weight and ours has been largely missing the last couple of years.

Defense won it last year. Washington had the better QB, but Michigan's defense

was impressive, to put it mildly. Michigan's QB was 10 of 18 for 140 yards and no TDs and ran the ball 4 times. Pedestrian would be a compliment to his performance.
While the rules favor the passing game, there is more than one way to get it done.

Yes Defense wins championships still applies. Because when you get to the top and are playing against other elite teams you best have a good defense. You don’t necessarily have to have an elite offense just a competent one that can move the ball.
Our issue the past three seasons have been our offense has been putrid.

I don't put it all on Cade but his decision making was awful last season.
It's why I like TP14 to eventually take the reigns. I don't want Cade to fail I just don't believe he processes at the right speed for college.
His athleticism helps him out a lot. But you have to be quick with the right decision on this level.

The number of interceptions and ball hawks did drop for a bit

as well as the DLine ability to actually sack the QB or break up the run.
The defense cycle that was Bryan Breese and company were like collapse of WRU
I remember every single team's QB looking like a Heisman candidate vs Clemson. But when they played other ACC teams they looked mid.
...
now in 2023 -> things seem to be trending up. The Freshmen and Sophomores look very good.

Last year was ok but 3 years, we could not stop anyone and scored enough points to win.
