The interesting thing is that conservatives are so up in arm

Jun 26, 2015, 11:19 AM

They do realize that this is the same body that, a few decades ago, decided that women have the right to slaughter their children if they didn't want them?

Re: The interesting thing is that conservatives are so up in arm

Jun 26, 2015, 11:21 AM

So you are saying that someone else should decide what a women get's to do with their body? They aren't "slaughtering children" btw, they are fetuses.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Women can do whatever they want with their body...

Jun 26, 2015, 11:23 AM

Up to and including killing the child contained within, apparently. No one cares about the rights the child has over his/her body.

A fetus is not a child.

As a Christian, do you believe that fetus has a soul?

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Without a shadow of a doubt!

Jun 26, 2015, 11:29 AM

Psalm 139
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Jeremiah 1:5
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jun 26, 2015, 11:32 AM

Soooo glad that's your answer AND that you backed it up with your majic book.

So since you believe that and everything else that comes in that book....shouldn't we just abort all fetuses?

Then they'd just go straight to heaven. We'd be doing them a favor. Instead of having to battle this "awful" world and risk spending eternity in hell. Seems like the Christian thing to do.

Sort of like how pro-lifers seem to care a lot about the child when it's in the womb but won't give it a second thought when it's out!?

How dare you abort a fetus that you can't take care of! You should have that child and then we'll ##### at you when you go on welfare to support it!

At what point does a fetus become a child?

Jun 26, 2015, 11:29 AM [ in reply to Re: The interesting thing is that conservatives are so up in arm ]

Serious question.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: At what point does a fetus become a child?

Jun 26, 2015, 11:34 AM

That is a good question but it borders on philosophy. That's like asking, at what exact age does a person become old? It's very easy to tell the difference between a child and an elderly person but there is a huge span in between where that become murky.

So to is it easy to discern a fetus from a fully grown child. That is why they have limits where you can and can't abort them.

And btw, since we are on the subject. I'm not "pro abortion" I'm pro-choice. I don't like abortion, it's a horrible ordeal for everyone involved. But to say that YOU or I should have that say over a woman's body is ludicrous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, it's kinda murky, but it's OK...

Jun 26, 2015, 11:35 AM

It's not like we're dealing with something really important. So a little gray area never hurts anyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yeah, it's kinda murky, but it's OK...

Jun 26, 2015, 11:37 AM

It's amazing that life isn't clear cut and black and white all the time. It's almost as if we need to give these things great consideration and not gloss over them with religious dogma.

Jun 26, 2015, 11:40 AM [ in reply to Yeah, weighing the pros and cons ]

If you believe like you believed...you would want to kill them. That way you would risk them spending eternity in hell.

Or you could at least enjoy their company until the "age of reason". Then knock em off.

Jun 26, 2015, 11:45 AM [ in reply to Re: At what point does a fetus become a child? ]

I am pro-choice, but I accept that regardless of the age of the fetus, you are killing a human life.

Pro-choicers should at least be able to admit that and stop hiding behind the "It's a fetus" ruse.

According to scripture, before the foundation of the world. I'm not arguing, just bearing witness so take it for what it's worth to you.

Always has, always will.

God also loves with an unfathomable love, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But for those that reject Him, they are risking that judgment.

Since we're playing hypotheticals, what if an egg is fertilized, and then dies on its own a few days later. If we don't know about it, is it still tragic? What if there was such thing as a pill that prevented a fertilized egg from implanting into the uterine wall, thus preventing pregnancy? Is that as earth-shattering as my mom dying?

Jun 26, 2015, 11:48 AM

Today's decision allows rights to some while not damaging the rights of others. Roe v Wade allows a right to some that does cause harm to others. I don't believe there is any comparison between the two.

That's not completely accurate.

Jun 26, 2015, 12:14 PM

Women in this country can slaughter an unborn child without having or giving reason.

The only difference between now and the day of Moses was that the Pharoah murdered after birth up to two years old. I'm sure they checked birth certificate to assure there were no mistakes.

During the days of Chirst's birth they didn't check but they had reasons.
