The Hill

I know this has been discussed but was curious about the hill. It is never full prior to the start of the game and I noticed last evening 10-12 security persons appearing to only be allowing a few at a time to enter at any one time. As a result, it was mid first qtr before it was semi populated. Does security limit the numbers or what's the deal. It's the first intimate exposure the tv audience receives at the beginning of the game and seeing it half full when the players run the hill is somewhat misleading in my view. Do the students (or whomever) require special tics to sit there?

issue.

I think if they ever add seating like they planned to do in other areas before the pandemic, then it is time to add them to the hill. Hear me out. Add stadium seating that leaves a clear strip of the hill for the players to run down. The visual would be the same. They would be running down between stadium seats full of people, but they would be on the hill. It would have the same effect.
The only other option is to leave as is. And if you look back at pictures and video over the years, there are many games where the hill was not necessarily full as the team runs down.

get to the middle down low. Also, security checks to make sure students have a hill ticket. It fills in after kickoff. And, there is only one point of entry from the southeast corner of the Hill. Lastly, fire marshal and admin have limited the Hill to 4000 tickets. Probably used to have 6000 back in the day.

Back in the day you didn’t need a hill ticket. The hill was first come, first serve and nobody cared, I mean you still had to deal with the occasional drunk A-hole steam rolling down the hill trying to clip everyone’s legs in his path, but I’ll take that any day over the way it is now

Security guards The Hill as if it's a skybox suite or something. They make extra sure noone enters it without a Section GG ticket by order of the fire marshal.

Let’s finally fully explain this whole “fire marshal” thing.

Back before this all started a few folks suffered injuries on the hill during games. There were law suits filed against the school alleging the occupancy load of the hill exceeded allowable limits. The hill “s rated occupancy has not changed in years. They were just allowing way more in there that it was rated for. Clemson paid out a lot of money due to that. So that’s when the school started with the single points of entry, limited hill tickets, and increased security on the hill. All Dabo said during his press conference was something to the effect of “I don’t know, it has something to do with the fire marshal”. That made it seem like all of a sudden the fire marshal did something different, which wasn’t the case.

But hey, while we are at it why not do away with the student seats in the south upper? They are never full and I’m sure there’s a ton of IPTAY members up there who wouldn’t mind moving down to fill those seats.
