He simply is not the coach he was before due to feeling comfortable and entitled.
I actually love his story, integrity, and respect his past success. But many successful coaches have reached a place where they just aren’t motivated the same way as before.
I don’t think he deserves to be fired or ever will be fired. But he will never again have the same success as before at Clemson.
This current roster is loaded with talent and still could make the playoffs. But the Tigers have slowly moved from great to good over the last few years.
I think college coaching is harder than ever before. And once you lose the drive you once had I’m sure it’s hard to turn back the clock.
He is still a far better Coach than Tommy Bowden, but the outcomes in the future could end up looking very similar.
I believe if Dabo didn’t have such a big contract he might consider transitioning in some way. But it’s hard for him to walk away from that kind of guaranteed money and a program where he won 2 national championships.
No matter what happens he will always be seen as a legend and be deserving of recognition.
But I think if he doesn’t really turn things around this year with this crop of talent, the opportunity of momentum will have passed.

Lot of truth in what you said. But 90% of Dabo cultists don't want to hear it.
A guaranteed 60 million dollars no matter the results and free reign over how you do things can be a disaster for any one wanting better results. Not to mention good paying secure jobs for the next 10 years for family and friends.

My hope for “fans” like you is that Dabo decides he’s had enough and the search begins. Each candidate will be told the “fans” require better coaching than they have had. Clemson will need you to perform better than the previous UNACCEPTABLE coach who had 14-10 win seasons, 9-ACC Championships, 7 College Playoffs and 2 National Championships ( all pending the results of the 2025 campaign) so who’s up for the challenge??? The line forms here oh wait where’s the line?? Ken Hatfield 2.0!!!!

But he needs to adapt better, and faster.
If he can’t do that, he doesn’t need to be coaching any longer.
For a long time, I dreaded the day he decides to retire or leave for another job. But at this point, that thought doesn’t scare me at all. Clemson will be fine.

Ah, the South Carolina Gamecocks football program—a revolving door of washed-up head coaches so dusty you’d think the position came with a complimentary rocking chair and Metamucil. From Lou Holtz, who was already halfway to the broadcast booth retirement home when they dragged him out like a relic from a museum, to Steve Spurrier, who looked like he spent more time perfecting his golf swing than developing an offense by the end. It’s like Columbia is where legendary coaches go not to build legacies, but to forget them. If you’ve ever wondered what coaching purgatory looks like, just peek at South Carolina’s sidelines sometime in November—there’s a 50% chance the coach is asleep, confused, or on his way to an AARP meeting.
And then there’s Shane Beamer—college football’s version of nepotism in cleats. He didn’t get the job because of some revolutionary football IQ or game-breaking philosophy; he got it because his last name rings bells like it’s still 2000 in Blacksburg. He’s basically the head coach equivalent of being hired at a law firm because your dad’s name is on the sign. The guy's biggest accomplishment so far is surviving press conferences without tripping over the legacy he’s clearly not living up to. The Gamecocks keep proving that if you set the bar low enough, even mediocrity can look like a win.

I can tell you put a lot of thought into your comments. Unfortunately, as a gamecock, your thought capacity falls well short of an ability to articulate a valid point or critique. Its not that you're stupid, you just have bad luck thinking. I'm sure it sounded a lot funnier when you were telling all of your chicken friends.

I dont think it is fair to question Dabos passion or drive to win.

I believe he still has the passion and drive. The problem is that the game has changed and he has not. He appears too stubborn to adapt, instead preferring to do things his way. While his unique approach has often benefited him, this time it has not.

Judge I agree with you 100%. He’s not willing to change or at least not fast enough to keep up with other football powers. I really think the way he wants to do things is the RIGHT way but the right way and the way things must be done now are not the same thing.

Dabos biggest problem is that there is no one to hand the program to. Had Scott or Elliott been really good as Head Coaches, I believe Dabo would have hung it up already and turned it over to one of them. Venables will have to get fired at OU to come back to Clemson. OU is better positioned to succeed than Clemson is in the New World of College Football. He would have to really hate it there.
