Portal opened before the post season tournaments are over. Not just March Madness, but all the other "minor" tournaments still going on. (I think of them as all those minor bowl games we watch on ESPN in December - Bahamas Bowl, Bad Boy Mowers Bowl, etc.)

I just heard this morning on local radio that UCF beat Oregon State last night in some tournament that is being played in Vegas. 4 guys on UCF have declared for the portal. 3 of them are still playing, one is not. Oregon State has their top 3 players in the portal. All have left the team.

I remember growing up in the 70's and 80's watching ACC basketball. I could tell you every starter and head coach on every ACC team. I haven't been able to tell you who's on our team in years.

you have to have a photographic memory now the way guys jump around. I too have tuned out after the way we finished and with almost everyone who could stay going portaling

The combination of unrestricted free agency and pay-for-play have lay waste to the sport. It is a farce.

Do I blame the "student athletes"? No, I do not, because this NIL money is the most many these athletes will see in large chunks like this. If they play it smart, this is a down payment on house or can be invested for more of a return. But the fact of the matter is the product is severely diminished. There is no continuity on small teams like Basketball. Almost the entire basketball team will be new next season. How can you have a culture, when you have 1 or 2 guys returning. Its a bad deal.
