The Aggies in the "Black Lagoon"

Jan 5, 2013, 10:00 AM

I preface this by realizing most folks won't understand a bit of it. But if you (or your older kids) have any interest in anime, you are missing out if you haven't seen "Black Lagoon" Here's a link to an overview ...warning don't listen at work or with impressionable kids around http://youtu.be/c7vz2dpp8xA)

=============

Yes, I know that the Aggies winning last night gives those chuckleheads another reason to hoot and holler about their conference. And certainly an Aggie loss might have cemented our spot in the Top 10.

Fact is, in our 2-game set with TAMU a few years back, I grew fond of them. And I see their affiliation with the Swamp People as an escape, rather then an embracement.

For you anime folks, think of A & M as Rock from "Black Lagoon....

A&M is wooed by the typical SEC fan

A & M Rock
is tired of his life, pushed around by his overlord at Big12Corp. While on another pointless mission, his ship is hijacked by the Black Lagoon (SEC). His employer says "Tough luck!" and walks away. So Rock is left with a conundrum ... stay true to his heart and die or hook up with the scourge of the South China Seas? Decisions, Decisions! Of course, he chooses a new life on the fringes of respectability. And what a crew he signs up with.....

Benny Vanderbilt, a slightly shady, but generally likable computer whiz. He's the brains of Black Lagoon ... about the only brains at all.

Revy LSU: You want to go to war? Take on Revy. The most violent, least complicated person in the show. She fights, she cusses, she drinks. Hadn't seen her eat a corndog yet. The fact that Clemson was able to take down Revy speaks volumes about our manhood.

Dutch Georgia: A real bada$$ in his time, Dutch is one of the older souls at Black Lagoon. He's been to the mounatintop, has respect and lets the younger guys do the majority of the bloodletting. But you never know when he'll go off again.

Balalaika Bama: In her own words: "I'm the best at what I do ... and what I do isn't very nice." The kingpin, ruthless and well-armed with a mindless army who obeys her every command.

Ole Miss Eda: It's hard being a saint, so why try? Eda, a covert agent in nun's disguise, lets her halo slip at every occasion to get what she needs.

Shenhua Florida: Crazy cool, a human slasher film with just enough goofiness to be fun ... when she's not slicing someone up.

The twins: Auburn and Miss State. They never measured up to their older in-state siblings and it morally destroyed them. Now just vile vessels of humanity.

Gamecock Leigharch: Sort of a hanger-on to the action, and no one can take his skllls seriously ... but he always knows when it's 4:20.

Lotton Kentucky:
He keeps promising to do something dramatic, but we haven't seen it yet.

Yolanda Tennessee: Once a character that wielded power, now just a sad, drunken mother superior with a big gun and lots of memories.

Sawyer Arkansas: It's hard to know when to take this crazy kid seriously. With all the weapons she has at hand, how come she gets beat up every time she shows up?

BTW, Mizzou hasn't made an appearance in the SEC Black Lagoon yet. Consider them one of the henchmen who's battered and left for dead.

It's a vice ... One that I indulge occasionally

In my life, I've found it more advantageous to study something than dismiss it out of hand. That's how I learned to can, repair pre-computer era car engines and, yes, study anime.

Besides, my daughter composes music for the stuff, so it helps to know what and who the heck she's talking about.

And I can't recall ever telling someone to "get a life" when it comes to their hobbies ... just their obsessions.

This coming from a guy that lied about his service (didn't exist) in the military to gain thumbs ups and kudos he didn't deserve or earn. That's rich.

Yeah, I remember exactly who you are....formerly NC81.

clemsonfan2000c is the former poster nc81 that was banned

What a complete tool nc81 and now clemsonfan2000c is. He would certainly be a real case study for a psychiatrist.
