I don't recall there being any chatter about him before the Coots claimed recruiting "gold" in Jake Bentley. Did any other school offer him a scholarship?

Lol not really close at all. Hunter was number two pro style QB by both rivals and 247 while Bentley was 13 and 11 respectively. He was also ranked 220 spots lower overall per 247.

I saw a #### fan post earlier that Bentley was the best QB in the SEC under pressure last season, and should be the best QB in the league this season. I understand he was only a freshman last season, and I can understand the high expectations for his potential, but the value of what he did last season is vastly overstated by their fans. He played well in games against UMASS, Missouri, Tennessee, Western Carolina, and overall well in a loss against South Florida. Which of those teams had anything resembling a defense? The only two good defensive teams he went up against were Clemson and Florida, and he scored exactly ZERO touchdowns in the two games combined. I'm not saying this makes him terrible or anything, but a lot of quarterbacks would look pretty good with the other teams he played against.
