Lego Parents PSA

I am about as close to OCD as it gets around the house. Everything has its place and everything is clean to the max. I take on most of this as its my problem to bear. However, the legos were getting absolutely out of control.
If you are like me, I suggest getting one of these
Total gamechanger. There is a little tray that can go on the top that will hold and separate the smaller pieces like knives, guns, cups, skis, snowboards, etc..
I highly suggest.

That would have been valuable about 300 lbs of Legos ago.

It’s out of control here. We use an end of bed storage bench. But my kids still try to leave their “projects” on the bedroom floor, until I walk in and raise hell. The bench doesn’t work that well. Because there are Legos that rarely see the light of day because they’ve fallen to the bottom.
I’m ready for the kids to move on. But trying not to rush things.

Hitting my kids could only decrease their value.

I couldn’t imagine if I were to accidentally injure one of my precious little beer fetchers during an old school whoopin.
True story about my children. In this “stay at home” Covid era, snatching away video games on PlayStation Plus with their friends has proven far more valuable than a spanking. Even the threat of loss of games is like Gold. And in regards to Lego based discipline, I did keep it interesting once a couple years ago and host our very own “Lego fire walk”. Great teaching moment in the spots household. The kids got a kick out of it and the Legos started staying in the room at least.

I bought one of those watches that count your steps, heartbeat, etc. I found myself obsessing over how many steps I took every day. It was really disturbing once I realized the time and attention that I was dedicating to this. Had to to quit the watch. Now it just wickedly sits there staring at me in its charger.
No wonder we have so many mentally unstable out there, modern technology is just making it worse. We really don't need to know all the things we are able to know these days.

You know you’ve got it bad, when you see a Lego parent post that mentions OCD.

And you somehow find a way to mention your Fitbit.
You’re addicted.

and the fiendish OCD web it weaves. I bought the watch as a cool thing to get texts and e-mails and phone call alerts on (Samsung Galaxy, not Fitbit). Then I found out all the other things it did and it tried its best to wrap me in its obsessive fitness tentacles.
Haven't even put it on in probably a year. Went back to my Citizen watch that just tells me the TIME.

So what stresses me out is all the individual kits.

If you sort them by color, you're mixing all the kits up. I used to store them in Gallon bags with the instructions in them but the 2nd kid took it over the top and now the legos are out of control.
