Spot the ball!!! I have been waiting for the return to middle of the field passes. Please throw the ball to the middle on the first play of the spring game.

Right off the bat, he says it’s like the system he ran in high school?

Either he’s saying it’s a HS level offensive scheme or he’s trying to elevate his system and qualifications.

Nice left handed slam at the “last 7 years” too.

I haven’t been impressed with Kyle, less so now.

Better learn to love him because he’s being groomed to be the OC when Riley leaves to be a HC.

That's hilarious.***

Nope, I believe Richardson will leave first to be HC at a D2 school (FCS?).

I don't know about other T-Netters, but I'm feeling that it's going to be a blessing when August rolls around so that the folks that work at Tiger Net will have something to talk about concerning FB bc we have heard about what Garretts offense is going to be like by every coach and skilled player on the team. This time next week we will be hearing from the long snapper and holder, the punter and kicker view of what Garrett's offense will be like!!!

If T-Netters don't have a vivid imagination of what the offense is going to be like by now, they never will!!!

Say what you will, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. His hands were tied by the ineptitude of Streeter, Elliot, and big Stinko. Let's give him a chance...hater

Every OC uses something of what they had in HS, where do you think Chad Morris got his offense from? This is the right system that fits our current offensive players, especially the QB.

Gus Malzahn - Springdale Christian
Butch Davis
Barry Alvarez
USTA current HC
Bobby Bentley
Lavell Edwards
Urban Meyer - St. Xavier in Cincinatti

When you think about the fact; "the spread started out of necessity in H.S. it makes sense"! The Air Raid was started by Mumme and Leach which was a variation of the spread.

In other words, I agree with you!

No matter the system it still comes down to "if your kids can execute, block, tackle well"!

What I hear repeatedly is: "K.I.S.S Rule" over and over! If you aren't out there "processing" you can actually get to the ball and make plays!

In H.S. I have seen where a team can set their defense to exactly what "the book" says you should call: "and they still couldn't stop it"! Because that offense has seen it defended that way a thousand times and know how to beat it. Especially when your talent is at least on par with the defense! If it's superior; well you should enjoy a clear advantage.
Nebraska and Tom Osborne didn't have a ton of plays; they just ran the same play in different variations so much -they didn't have to think about "how you defend it"! It didn't matter; if it's executed at a high level there is little the defense can do about it. The offense knows where it's going the defense has to react - which is the built in advantage!
An advantage that's taken away if you are "processing" how to deal with the defense being in the right position.
I.E. you would have practiced it against the perfect defense enough to where even that doesn't matter.
You couldn't stop Nebraska and that "Nebraska I=formation"! Same play; slightly different formation. Same play; different side. Same play; different personnel group; ran so efficiently it just didn't matter what you did.

I am loving what I am hearing from Coach Richardson!

You may not know this but all high schools run a version of an offense which is run at the college level. There are not offenses for HS and different offenses for college. Obviously the difference is the complexity and skill level of the players.

Kyle has been successful at every stop in his career plus he brings a needed edge to the offensive side of the ball. Not sure how you could not be impressed with him....

You’re going to be disappointed because Riley has said, we don’t care if you know what’s coming, we’re going to execute it in a way that it won’t matter

No....no I don't think I'll be disappointed if we execute it so it doesn't matter.

Because we play 2 cupcakes after the Duke game, it is very important that our offense clicks in the first game. FSU will have the athletes to match up and will expect their front to be able to control the run and trust their corners and safeties to handle the back end. We have to show FSU in the game against Duke that they cannot stack the box.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Streeter is no longer the OC, coot.

2

Mar 30, 2023, 8:57 AM

Stacking the box in this offense would be a death sentence...

It can be, if you have horses at wr. He doesn’t have a 1st rounder like at TCU or the Chad Morris trio of DHop/Sammy/Bryant. I like Williams, but all the others are quite unproven. I don’t see any wr horses on our current roster like we have been blessed with in the past. All that being said, we will definitely be better offensively.

Re: TNET: Richardson details what to expect from Clemson's new offensive attack

Mar 30, 2023, 8:59 AM

Interested to see the reaction of the fans to this offense. Because the biggest gripe about Streeter's play calling was he didn't change up enough, or "he called the same plays over and over". Now Riley has come in and purposely stated he will install and Call less plays on offense. Which means he is stating we will be calling the same plays over and over! Now the key is can the offense take the execution from the practice field and do it in the game. Because no offense, no matter who the coordinator is, no matter who is running it, will be successful if the 11 on the field don't execute it. All we have heard is it is going to be much simpler by less and that the team will run it till they know it. So if it doesn't work what will the reaction be? I for one believe it will, because I believe in the players. Talent abounds and they are smart, so if it is as simple as advertised it should be simple for these players to run it. But what if it is not successful? Reaction will be interesting since everyone is convinced the ineptitude of this offense is no longer at Clemson. Just my thoughts! Go Tigers!

2

Mar 30, 2023, 9:59 AM

last year, how come we didn't see any of it last year?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Listening to this interview my first reaction was,...

2

Mar 30, 2023, 2:01 PM

...."That sounds exactly like Art Briles at Baylor."

The offense won't be exactly the same. The plays and formations won't be exactly the same. But, the principles are the same.

1. Make the defense cover THE ENTIRE field.
2. When there are 5 defenders in the box, put a hat on a hat and hand the ball to the running back.
3. Repetition, repetition, repetition in practice.
4. On every play the goal is to get the ball to an athlete in space. (That includes inside zone, outside zone, draw plays or any other running play.)
5. Line up quick and if the defense isn't ready, burn them.

I could go on and on about each one of those five points, and I could list five or 10 more. But, I'll just say, "If your fire ain't lit thinking about the offense, your would is wet." No doubt in my mind it will be exciting and fun to watch. If it's third and two at midfield and the defense has 7 in the box, don't expect to see an inside zone. But, if it's third and 7 at midfield and there are only 5 in the box, do not be surprised to see Mafah or Shipley take a handoff and run it up the A gap (if that's where the natural hole is).
