Humbly report sir, on dirty hippies & Trump

One of the very good things about being The Good Soldier and working in Lower Manhattan, is the potential for amusement that arises in daily activities. For instance....
Yesterday as I was walking from my work to Calatrava's Oculus for my commute home, I walked up Wall St. in the block containing Federal Hall. The building next to Federal Hall is The Trump Building.
Sitting in front of the Trump Building were three young white men - these guys were so filthy that they give 'dirty hippies' a bad name. Hair in dreads, and bearded - only one had on a shirt, and they were rather grime encrusted.
One was holding a sign, a piece of cardboard with the following scrawled in magic marker "$1 Or I Vote For Trump". This was hilarious on the face of it, and made me laugh.
I gave him $5. I told them, "Here, vote 5 times - Trump says you're going to, anyway."

I see many panhandlers in the course of a day - I give them money if their shtick amuses me.
During the winter, I use Burger King coupons that I get in the Sunday paper, buy cheap death food and give it to the panhandlers/homeless on the streets.
Better them than me.

was never allowed to happen, thanks to the vigilance of upstanding non New Yorkers like Newt Gingrich:
“Nazis don’t have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington,” former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich said. “We would never accept the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor. There’s no reason for us to accept a mosque next to the World Trade Center.”
But it was actually a dispute between the owners, and a forgotten lease from ConEd, that caused the property to revert to its current status, a high end luxury condo site:

A great read about the glorious Czech runner, Emil Zatopek. At the end there was discussion of whether he had ever collaborated with the communist police. The concept of Svejking was introduced but of course I was already familiar!

was finally convinced to change my duty station from the Empire's political capital to the Empire's financial capital - to Mrs Svejk's great delight.
The Financial Dist. is the bestest place I've ever worked. Mucielago will vouch for that.
Just returned from lunch on the bulkhead by the South Street Seaport.
Lotsa hot wimmens all around, but as I told cali_desert_tiger the last time he was here, the best thing about being a certain age is that ALL the wimmens look good.
