It will be interesting to see how many long term Tiger football fans there truly are. Clemson has been apt to generate bandwagon/fair weather fans over the last 10 years, it’s easy to want to support a dominate team. It was easy to be a Miami Hurricane, for example, until they lost the 2003 National Title. The mystique of the U fell off for many years and is just starting to return.

It could… or it could be much better. If Clemson does end up have a losing season this year, that will be Dabo’s first actually bad year. Some want to claim the last 5 seasons have been bad, that’s where I see exaggerations.

Considering 2-10 is a real possibility this season, hard to say it can be worse. But if we go 0-12 or 1-11 next year while looking worse too....oh boy. I think the plug will be pulled.

Only if you think 44-16 was something that could’ve been duplicated in perpetuity. We have not had a bad season under Dabo yet… keyword being yet of course. Those seasons you reference weren’t dominating title worthy performances, but they were unquestionably good winning seasons.

Totally different game now and we are missing on recruits going to take the big pay day. 2010 was bad. That team quite honestly would beat this team.

Our recruiting is pretty consistent, our rankings in the services have not changed that much over the Dabo era. As for who would win, would be fairer to wait till season end to make that pronouncement.

Death Valley was full during the Tommy Bowden years. We have plenty of true fans. The bandwagon tag is way overstated. And mostly a tool to keep people from complaining .

People can complain all they want about Dabo. But if he’s run out of town, we better not then hear for years, "well it’s Dabo fault things fell apart and why we still can’t get it back together" if we proceed to do a Nebraska-esque slide of decades off the map of college football relevancy. Maybe that won’t happen and post-Dabo will be nothing but playoff contention!!

The reality is this isn’t unique to Clemson. Fans are fickle and want to back a winner. When you are no longer the shiny new penny, they tend to lose interest and move on.

The team is definitely struggling at the moment, for a whole host of reasons. That is for sure.

Unfortunately- I think that will be the case without a big portal move and coaching changes. I am quite frankly in shock over what I am seeing this year. I scratch my head when Dabo said we are not worried about this team they are player led? I do not see this with this team. I would say we can get things turned around, but we are who we are. I have been on this board since the mid 2000’s. That being said with the direction college football has gone, I cannot say that I will be watching any of it 5 years from now. And I was a CFB diehard.

Sucks that we have played so poorly the first part of this season and much work to do to try to turn things around.
I would disagree only about the state of college football overall. It’s never been better, and the ratings and growth in following help evidence that. More games matter each week because of the 12-team playoff. And we get a champion who actually has to run the gauntlet and win the extended playoff on the field in January.

I used to feel that Memorial Stadium would have about 50,000 fans in attendance regardless of the product on the field. Unfortunately, a lot of those die hard fans have been priced out and are no longer attending home games. I have no idea how many of us die hard are still purchasing tickets.
Speaking of tickets, what bad timing of increasing the amount of money for IPTAY levels next year. YIKES
