Question about UNC punt 1st qtr downed at 2

Looks like part of the guy that downed it was in the endzone. RGIII said it didn't matter as long as the ball hadn't crossed the plane. Is this correct? Bringing it up since UNC fans complaining about Wiggins maybe being out of bounds when he punched the ball out.

In college the ONLY thing that matters is if the ball crosses the line.

In the NFL all that matters is if the ball touches the end zone or if a player that touches the ball has touched the endzone

Yes.as long as the ball doesn't touch the line, doesn't matter where parts of the body are.

2 completely different situations.

1 - The punt. Stopping a ball short of the goal line is 100% and ONLY about “where is the ball” . Has nothing to do with where the player is standing, except a player standing out of bounds can’t play the ball.

2. “The Great Wiggans Play”😈. You can’t make a play from out of bounds. You can be forced out of bounds and then come back in bounds and then make a play.
I THINK, NOT SURE, that if you run out of bounds on your own free will that you are out of the play.

The truth is, they had the entire football game to figure out a way to win…..and they didn’t. When they needed to stop us, they didn’t. When they needed to make a play, they didn’t.
