For the coots. so it makes the local paper for them.. Not to me. Womens college basketball is still bigger than men's college soccer though. It gets more tv time and generates cash and more people watch.. That said, for me there are only two college sports though, college football and college men's hoops. College baseball is growing on me though.

Shockingly people do and that's why they are national tv all of the time. You get highlights daily on ESPN Sportcenter as well. UCONN women were on all of the time. They have had close to 30k at a game numerous times. People do watch it in comparison to college soccer. The Gamecocks were getting 18k at a game at times it says below. People watch that stuff. They have tv contracts with ESPN and they show games on ABC. Like I said, there is a reason the coots game their coach a 20 million dollar deal and our soccer coach makes 300k. Just because you and I think women's hoops sucks, that doesn't mean that people watch it in comparison. You can learn something below.

It's a lot bigger. There is a reason why the coots just paid their hoops coach over 20 million for women's hoops. How many times was Clemson soccer televised during the regular season? People don't follow college soccer generally.

I think the people that care about women's hoops are the coots, ND people, Oregon people, Baylor people, Iowa, Michigan, and Tennessee people. I think that's who I saw. They are just meaningless to us. The coots only like it because they suck at football. The tv ratings for that women's tournament are higher than the men's NIT as well, which is still not saying much. Anyway, as we can see why the paper went with that over mens college soccer. We know nobody really watches men's college soccer even if is a better product, so I think they knew their audience for that town. They're proud to be a women's basketball school. I wouldn't mind if we scarppe women's basketball at Clemson and put the money into the mens program.

Of course the public isn't that caught up in it overall. Just way more than mens college soccer. There are only 2 college sports that a lot of people watch consistently and those are football and mens basketball.

I watched WRAL-TV, the Raleigh TV station sports Sunday night after the game. Not much was expected by me, just a quick mention that the Men's NCAA National Soccer Championship was played in Cary (a suburb of Raleigh) and that it was won by Clemson, a member of the ACC. Zip, Nada, Zilch....not even a crawler at the bottom of the screen. Soccer is very popular in the area with a really nice stadium in Cary, but there was no coverage of the tournament at all on local TV.

The soccer complex in Cary is first rate and attendance and enthusiasm was tremendous yesterday.
Amazing that the news seems to have skipped the coverage.

Yeah, it is a heck of a great little spot.
I snickered a little bit because it was "hosted" by UNCheat but is also literally across the road (I40) from CarterFinley/PNC/NCState's Centennial Campus. UNC will willingly sponsor the college cup (final four) next to NC State campus because they know that NC State (one of the most "meh" soccer programs - akin to south carolina football) will NOT make the it to the finals. It would be akin to Clemson hosting the College Football Playoffs in Cootlumbia just for the grins. Gotta give the tarholes some first-rate trolling kuddos there.
