During a lull in the media Olympics today, I went over to Coach Swinney and asked him to please introduce me to Coach Ted Roof. In case you haven't heard or read my stuff, Coach Roof is a part of the defensive staff as an analyst. He's been a lot of places - from Duke (even as interim head coach there), Auburn, Penn St., Georgia, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and NC State, just to name a few.
So I sat there and listened to two coaches discuss the game and heard some stuff from Coach Swinney I had never heard before (which I will share later, because it is mind-boggling) and some of his first days as Clemson's head coach.
Later, Coach Roof came over to me to talk and when I asked if he liked it here, he said, "No. I love it here. I love it. I am enjoying every second. I have had 17 stops in my career, and this place is just different. Everyone is different and it's genuine and it's sincere and it's easy to spend time with Coach Swinney and see why they win. I am soaking it all in. No place is perfect, but this as close as you can get."
Probably not long at all. I imagine it was evident from the beginning, especially for someone with the amount of exposure to other programs as he's had. We should be very pleased to hear someone like him speak so highly of the programs.
