Good one! I liked them better pre-Michael McDonald.

The Doobie Bros kind of suck. Too much repetition. Anyway, they named themselves the Doobie Brothers because they had a show and couldn't think of a name. Their neighbor made it up and it stuck. They initial thought the name sucked and was goofy. It worked out well for them in the end.

They were no Allman Brothers but were pretty good back then.

Yes, Chicago sucked. Turn the station every time they come on. All soft rock and elevator music. Hate it.

Chicago was Kath-led...entirely different band! I agree, though...left Cetera at the elevator!

Fewer and fewer people appreciate good music

Maybe it wasn't your cup of tea but Chicago certainly does not suck. They and Tower of Power showed that horn lines could still be sexy in popular music.
A song doesn't have to use a gain-dimed Marshall stack and a double-kick pedal on the bass drum to be good.

Trivia question. Speaking of China Grove , a very successful former Clemson coach was from China Grove, NC. Can you name him?

My significant other’s family is from China Grove. Love that area, even though it’s changed through the years, like everywhere else. Not far from Salisbury.

I grew up in Mooresville. My entire family is still there. Talk about change, that area has exploded. Glad I live in the big city of Pendleton now!

Yep, family worked in the mills around Kannapolis and worked on the family farms. All the communities within 30 minutes to an hour of Charlotte have changed drastically.

You are correct. My grandfathers dairy farm is now a subdivision. It’s actually sad for me to see what’s happening there. The China Grove area has not been “ruined “ yet but it’s probably coming.

Run up there occasionally for Gary's BBQ and play the golf course nearby frequently. Cabarrus county's explosive growth along with Mooresville's will change it even more soon.

I knew we had something in common PBT. The Doobie Brothers were my favorite band until Michael McDonald came along. Their sound changed completely. Tom Johnston was the best!!!

day for several reasons. Earlier that Sat afternoon was the Notre Dame game, which we seemingly would win, until Joe Montana led them to a comeback victory. The infamous "silent treatment" game for their coach Dan Devine. That ND team was loaded and so were we. In fact, that game featured 38 future NFL players, which is probably still a record. And yeah, ND was nat'l champ in 77.
After the game I took my girlfriend to Pixie & Bill's for dinner. It was the only time I've ever been in that place... it was way out of my price range, I must have saved up. Memorable because a big family of ND fans came in and had a table close to ours. They were loud and obnoxious and I eventually had a verbal altercation with the dad... LOL.
After dinner was the Doobie Bros concert, with Pablo Cruise as the opener.

One of my favorite movie quotes: in Romancing the Stone, Michael Douglas found an old newspaper in the crashed drug plane with the skeleton pilot and said, “####, the Doobs broke up”.
