So goes the ‘improved messaging’ from Democrat Party leadership.
‘Trump tariff negotiations are a disaster. Trump is getting shown up by P.R.China.’

Oooops. PRC came crawling in, begging Trump-47 admin for mercy, back on April 25th.

Great messaging, Democrats. Looks likely that they’ll never know if DNC honcho David Hogg was correct in seeking new leadership in the Democrat Party.
The over / under for when the Democrats fire Hogg is May 16.

Its interesting although not surprising watching Dems actively root for us to fail in our attempt to reach a more level playing field with regards to trade with China. Im certainly aware of the risks involved and there's no guarantee of how this gets resolved but the vitriol they spew for Trump even daring to make an effort should make it clear where their true loyalties lie.

Am I following your "reasoning" correctly here?...

the fact that some Chinese officials visited the Treasury dept during the G20 means that China "blinked" and Trump won?
And the fact that Trump started the recent tariff escalation and China said they wouldn't talk until the new tariffs are gone and they retaliated with tariffs of their own...and now both side paused their new tariffs and had discussions...that means China blinked versus China called Trump's bluff?
Is that what you're really saying here?

No.
I’m saying that the T-47-Tariff haters were falling all over themselves insisting that PRC had the upper hand in the tariff negotiations, and that it was up to Trump to come crawling to PRC.
I’m saying that PRC trade representatives, insistent that their presence in the environs where trade negotiations take place, must be kept secret. Photographs of them were required to be blurred, and reporting of their presence in the US to kick start negotiations was to be concealed from the public.
Old Sac Tiger apparently understands that ‘saving face’ is a big deal in East Asian cultures. No ‘saving face’ would have been necessary for PRC if Trump, watching America collapse in the wake of failed tariff negotiations with PRC, ‘blinked first.’

It's probably too soon to know what kind of "deal" is going to get done.***

I agree.
I wish that Trump-47 admin would cool it with the hyperbole. Bad style. No ‘permanent’ deal has been struck. ‘We have a deal’ IMPLIES that a permanent deal has been struck, but does not explicitly STATE that such a ‘permanent’ deal has happened.
Since substance is infinitely more important than style as far as my priorities are concerned, the fact that PRC’s decision to re-start tariff negotiations … as opposed to holding out and waiting for Trump to ‘blink’ first … is an outward sign that PRC senses a bigger loss for PRC than what America will suffer in the event of a full-on trade war.
In summary, favorable progress for the American side in the tariff negotiations with PRC appears to be happening. We have the lead, so to speak, but the game isn’t over yet.
