Rumor is that Conn, Reed, and Riley have already been told that they will not return after the end of this season. Conn has been offered an off the field role.
Could be more firings on the way, but as of now, sounds like these are the only 3 that have been told.

I actually can see Reed. He’s had a great run but DB techniques have always been in question. Not turning to find the ball has always been my biggest bugaboo with Reed.
Conns safety group has played well since 2017. It wasn’t until this season that we’ve been seeing busts.i think that’s new scheme and not coaching as of yet. They haven’t been too bad except for a few games this year, and I can’t see why he’d be fired.
I honestly don’t think Dabo trusts Riley to keep the game balanced and be able to establish a running game that demands defensive attention. Riley has actually done well with us finishing as the 11th ranked offense just last year. But the air raid lite is hurting both sides of the ball from a physical nature. Practicing against air raid lite does not build toughness. Heck even Brandon Streeter had a balanced attack that underscored toughness, and when he was here our defense was better as well. I’ve been bringing up Riley as a potential departure, but I’m not sold on it.
My other mention has been the DL guys, Rumoh and Eason. Up until last Saturday, those boys were not playing with enough effort. It appears coaching just isn’t taking hold anymore.
I could see a few guys departing. Just a matter of who.
But I’m not buying this “rumor” that Reed, Conn, and Riley have already been told they won’t be back next year.

Personally? I have been surprised by many moves Coach Swinney has
3
4

…made throughout his tenure as Clemson’s HC. Optics and perception are reality and Coach Swinney has really done some very “single A” ball moves that have made me question his overall decision making ability.
Here are some examples…and I’m sure some of you will filet me as being petty, but think what you want, these are my own opinions.
- making it publicly known, and then carrying out the construction of that incredibly ostentatious 20+ thousand square foot cheesy home that he built. He looked like a redneck who had just won the lottery.
- giving all of his kids scholarships and playing time on his teams. It reeked of nepotism and was clear those boys wouldn’t start on most decent D-II teams. Schollies for other coaches Sons as well.
-Replacing Brent Venables with Wes Goodwin. I KNEW that poor guy was way over his skis in the DC position! I don’t care how brilliant of a data, or Xs and Os guy he was/is! He is a short, chubby dude who never played the game and doesn’t have the demeanor, profile or Bona fides to lead a group of elite D-1 athletes. Again, optics matter.
-His Brother serving as his body guard while bringing down multiple six figure salary doing so…again, bad optics.
-The grotesque make-up of his entire staff! A really bad idea to hire all your old buddies, former players, Sons, etc despite the lackluster performance the program has experienced as of late.
-Dabo’s little spoiled brat tantrums he was having in full display this season. Totally unacceptable behavior and unbecoming of a guy who was given what literally was an extremely rare opportunity by Clemson.
I am totally appreciative of Dabo’s contributions for the program since his reign began back in 2008. He has done an amazing job.
I also think he deserves another season to begin the climb back, if possible, but, probably not anymore after that. I would count the last 3 seasons as proof that the program has lost its luster (despite the ACC championship last year that he was able to back his way into)
I’m sorry, when you are making more than $11 million/year…not including all of the other perks that come with the position, all of these aforementioned items (and I’m sure there are others I missed but these were the most obvious) just illustrate a lower EQ than he should have, lack of awareness of the realities the entire landscape of collegiate sports is experiencing.
Just my .02 cents

for us.
Maybe they were beat a couple times in their careers, but you obviously cannot find a safety or DB anywhere where that’s not true.
Again, the performance of the safety group since 2017 has not been an issue for us. And then following Venables, we were the 28th and 8th best defenses in America in 2021 and 2022, respectively. In 2023 we saw a dropoff to 69th, but in reality that was DL not being able to stop the run more than anything. It wasn’t a safety issue, and even this year, while the defense is playing better than last year, safety really didn’t bust except for 2 or 3 games.
It’s a new issue. This has not been occurring under Conn’s watch.

Dabo has said pretty much that when he said he will handle things as he has before.
But I do doubt that the guys being let go have been been publicly identified by people in the athletic department, and o also doubt that anyone has already been told they won’t be back next year.

Why put something like that out. Maybe that should be Dabo’s Responsibility.
This is the problem with ESPN and other media outlets putting out unconfirmed rumors.
This uncharacteristic of most of your post. This post could have a negative impact on recruiting, the coaches families, even the outcome of the 3 remaining games and plus 1 if Clemson goes to a BG.

Not sure what Spiller has to do at this point.

Spiller probably just has to put a couple backs into the NFL, turn a WR into a 5 ypc back, and recruit some high level young guys.

It wouldn't surprise me if true. Not unlike what that other site put out a couple weeks ago. With Conn and Reed, both sound like mutual agreements with Dabo. I could see Reed and Mickey telling Dabo they weren't returning for another year. Reed may have another job outside fb lined up. I could see Dabo talking Conn into staying at Clemson.
I don't see it as a scenario where Dabo fired them. Perhaps someone reading that as such but in reality, it became known that they weren't coming back. I can't buy in that Dabo told Riley he's fired at the end of the season. That sounds more rumor and speculation.
