Chad Morris' play calling
Jan 5, 2014, 8:30 AM

Every game Morris calls some plays that leave you shaking your head. In the Orange bowl, we are on our own 1 yard line. He calls a pass play with deep routes. We get sacked for a safety. Later on in the game, its 3rd down and five. He runs Boyd up the middle. Why? We completing almost every pass.

I thought that end zone pass call was whacked. Chad

should have called running plays to give TB breathing room. You knew TB would panic in the end zone

TB didn't panic in the end zone. Ohio State had a good rush and someone missed a block. End of story.

It was a stupid call. If that play cost us the game would you defenders of that play be out in force blasting everyone who DARES to question the call???

If boyd would have had another second and he throws it up for Bryant we may have scored. If I was going to question anything it would be inside the 2 and we stay in shot gun and run it up the middle. I hate the shotgun when you only need a yd. or less but I know all teams do it and not just Clemson.

We just needed Tajh to get rid of the ball faster.
Also as you watch football you will find that nobody calls a perfect game.

There always good calls when they work, bad when they don't.

But in case you did, Take a look at OSU's defensive setup on the snap. Man coverage on the wide receivers, three linebackers flooding the short routes and stonewalling the short run option. The play wasn't "called" ... it was the best option available given OSU's defensive setup. An unnamed O-lineman got turned around and the linebacker breezed in on Boyd.
It was a solid gambit, one that had worked in the past. It was big-boy football, not a harried head-scratcher.
