Did you try writing a strongly worded email to the state tourism board? That'll teach them, usually.

Maybe in time I'll get over it. Until then, it's nonstop reading of A Catcher in the Rye.

You should try a different social caste to disparage.

It is bad the way they are. Some dogs are cleaner than some people I've seen on beaches. I'm going to ft. Meyers beach (Sammy's hometown)July 4th week gonna try and sneak my little doggie on beach in evenings. Hope he gets to see the ocean.i can see why no big mean dogs running around loose terrorizing everything but little dogs shouldn't bother nothing

I am a Clemson Grad, and I am not a redneck but I do live in Florida. If you don't have the money to move to Florida just realize the rednecks still live in SC, and that is why you would only be visiting, dumbasss.

Meh, I've been to plenty of places in Florida - Tampa, Miami and Orlando to name a few. I'll stay right here with all poor folks in Mt. Pleasant/Charleston, thank you very much.

Uh, so they are rednecks because they won't let you take your dog on the beach? Am I missing something here?

that's not sand; it's dog crap.
Not everyone is responsible and cleans up after their dogs. FYI, there is a "dog friendly" beach in the Ft. Myers area.

People leave their trash on the beach too.... A lot of which doesn't deteriorate very quickly.... Dog crap foes though.
Yet very little is done about that

I'm not even one of those environmental folks, but for some reason I go into rage mode when I see people leave beer cans on the beach, or a bag of trash or their baby's chitty diaper. Uncalled fo'

"Environmental folks" makes me laugh because it implies one must be a bleeding-heart liberal to care about the environment. There's no political prerequisite for wanting a pristine natural world. The original "environmental folks" were the Boy Scouts Of America, which is one of the more conservative organizations in the country. And it is rabid about keeping nature clean.

Well, most of the environmental folks from whom I was trying to separate myself from ARE your typical "bleeding-heart liberals." It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. HENCE my reason for even qualifying that.
I don't get what your point is - what if I WERE a liberal and just wanted to separate myself from the picket-toting hippies of the San Francisco and Portland variety?
