Charlotte can be beatened with our base 4-3 Defense ,calling very vanilla plays. It has been proven not to be Dabo's style to dog one of these lower teams in the past. Like Carl said, it'll give us time to play more DT's and practice our 4-3 D ,while showing a little respect for a money opponent

Just wondering if we'd go back to it just to grow our DT's up faster by playing 2 of em at a time in games where we didn't neeed to be in full attack mode.
Dabo has a history of taking it easy on lower level competition and using games in the season to prepare for the stretch run.
We gonna play everyone Saturday Night, no matter what we run.

It will really depend on how Charlotte's offense is lining up. I'm not familiar with them enough to know what type of formation(s) they generally run.
Unless they go with a lot of 10 personnel with 4 WR, we likely won't see nearly as much dime defense. I actually think we are pretty stout even in a 3-3-5 nickel defense though given the ability of Simmons and Muse to come up in run support. I know it still isn't the same as having that extra DT up front, but we can do more out of that formation than the standard 4-3.
Venables' defenses have always been very multiple though mixing up a good bit of nickel and dime in with the 4-3. It was only a 2 or 3 years ago when our most common defense was a 4-2-5 nickel. We have typically had 4 DLs even in our nickel and dime defenses though, but given that we have less depth at the DT position this year, I think Venables is simply taking advantage of the strengths of this team.
