This team is going no where this year. Both hitting and pitching have regressed terribly.

We have no clutch hitters. Our lineup is full of average hitters at best. Need taught how to place hits. It’s a whack-a-mole approach. And I have no idea why one of the girls is even in the starting lineup.

Right now Clemson has one pitcher, Cagle. The others are so inconsistent.

And at points looked even more effective than Cagle that season. But she has regressed since then

Millie had a severe arm disease that almost cost her career. It’s amazing she was able to ever pitch again at all.
We don’t have dominating pitching. We also lack timely hitting from top to bottom. It’s definitely disappointing as I expected us to compete deep into the WCWS. It’s still possible if the girls can get hot. We lost some serious experience this year as well.

We only have one player who compares with the 'elite" softball players in the country and she is a really good one. BIG TIME drop off in talent after her.......sadly.

I am afraid this season could possibly be a huge disappointment. Right now I see a very average team. Offensively this maybe the worst team they have had . Everybody just pitches around Cagle & doesn’t worry about anybody else.

Tiger pitching isnt great past Val but they are good enough, their problem, which is the same problem for the past couple of years, is poor hitting with RISP and questionable offensive coaching in terms of bunts, steals, plate protection, etc.

We over performed out of the gate and fans like yourself thought we would be an instant World Series contender. Now at the first sign of adversity, you think all is lost. Do you understand how sports work or how programs are built? Hint, it’s almost never linear.

Programs are built by recruiting & development which if you have been paying attention to have both been lacking. Other than Cagle, who is elite, there has been no development of other players. The players on this team are no better now than when they first arrived.

Have you considered that the ACC has gotten substantially better since the first year of the program. Also that kids aren’t going to sustain high .300s batting averages through multiple years. Cagle is elite, that’s why she’s the player of the year. Not every team has multiple kids that are like that.

Pitching wise,already dreading life after this season for Clemson Softball when there will be no more Valerie Cagle around to carry the team on her back.We better hope like H.E.L.L coach Rittman and coach Jamieson have recruited some really really good talent for the circle,just saying.

As some others have said Horry. We haven't developed. We've had 5 years to recruit. At some point, you have a phenom freshman or sophomore just take over a spot. Look at Dabo and what he's done, always has young talent. So far in softball, we have not done that. We have issues.

We have gotten exposed without Cagle.....get used to it. We will really be average after she is gone. We can't pitch her every game.

This team will struggle to make an NCAAT this year. There’s nothing on the team among the newer players besides Knowler that looks like D1 talent for a top 15 program. Davenport, Miklesh, and Jacobson were huge transfer pickups and no one replacing them is as talented. Rittman has just not been able to recruit replacement talent, and you can’t sustain on transfers alone.
