Wes Goodwin ...good bye

Dec 2, 2024, 10:47 AM

🪦 ☠️

too many people too close to the organization are actively questioning Sammy Brown's lack of play

Our defense gave up 17-pts, seven of which were following a turnover.

Why should Clemson fire the DC?

because we finished the game and whole 4th quarter with our best player on the sidelines. Dabo should be held accountable also. Asking a slow Woodaz to cover Sellers is the dumbest decision ever.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because we have given up 3,700 yards in 10 games against P4 teams

For an average of 370 yards a game. That is awful.

555 yards of Rushing in the last 2 games. This defense hasn't been able to stop the run all season. That is why Wes should be let go. This defense has been trending downwards since he took over and this is coming from someone who believed we should give him a chance. He had his chance. It isn't working.

Our personnel has been trending the last four years, it’s catching up to us very badly on the defensive front where we used to dominate. We have whiffed on the line and linebackers the last couple of years and it shows.Burley must be terrible not to even sniff the field. We are no longer elite at those positions and lacking quality depth.

Burley??? Lol he's the defenses Stellato. I haven't seen him on the field almost all year.

Wes could be a great attribute to our team, just not as the d.c.

The SC game was for Wes to save his job

Dec 2, 2024, 11:09 AM [ in reply to Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye ]

he didn't

Because our defense tackled like princesses.

Dec 2, 2024, 11:09 AM [ in reply to Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye ]

And our scheming, not in four quarters, adapted to the fact that we couldn't tackle sellers behind the line so we needed something, idk, in front of it?

2025 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

drunk at the putt putt.

stop with the point total - he couldn't figure out how to stop one player

Dec 2, 2024, 12:43 PM [ in reply to Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye ]

his one adjustment was to take out the one guy that could tackle him

We have multiple defensive coaches… is it all on Wes?

I know he leads the deal, but Dabo trumps them all. Could Wes fix issues within the defensive room (coaches) or is he just the problem period?

I have my thoughts, but things I do question.

Wes is the LB coach and can’t develop a LB to save his life, including one of the top LB recruits one recent memory. We ran a 4-2-5 for most of this season, due to that inability. Do any of the backup strike you as guys that are ready to contribute? What happened to Jamal Anderson Jr.? Looked great in the spring game, and hardly plays? He’s not adequate as a position coach, let alone the architect of the defense.

Should Garret Riley be fired? The defense covered for the lack of offensive output for most of the game. Take aways aplenty, 4th and 1 non conversion, 3 and outs happened often.

Yes and Riley should be fired WAYYYY before Wes Goodwin.....these clowns on here have made it their personality to be angry at Wes but if it weren't for him we wouldn't have won a single game last season. Our offense was THAT PUTRID and it still is

Wes held the coots to 17 points.....Riley couldn't even manage that with 3 turnovers given to him by Wes' defense

I'm glad that Wes was able to be efficient with players recruited, and partially developed by Venables, the problem is, he's having a hard time backfilling those players once they leave, with the ones he's developed and recruited.

What I find to be most alarming is that what should've been a strength, and one of the best units in the country by most pundits, appears to now be our thinnest, and weakest group. They also happen to be coached personally by Wes. How is it, that he couldn't develop one of the best LB prospects in decades to run the MIKE, his natural position, so that we could run a 4-3, rather than the 4-2-5 that allowed us to be gashed, over and over again? Why do we not have a single, capable backup in the LB corps? They were all highly recruited? Where has Jamal Anderson Jr been after an eye opening spring game?

I'm not defending Riley, as the offensive play calling was inexcusable in the 2nd half, but to act like the position group that Wes coaches isn't the biggest liability we have, is asinine.

Not to mention recovering an onside kick. Two first downs there and the game would have been over. The play calling on the last 2 drives before the interception was horrible.

So you’re good with our OC getting 14 points but you want to fire the DC for giving up 17? Our offense lost that game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye

Dec 2, 2024, 12:36 PM

Yeah these guys that want to fire Wes don’t want to admit the real problem and that is our offense. Our defense is always to blame even though they never get a break because our putrid offense keeps them on the field way longer than they should.

Giving up 200 + rushing yards a game to the Citadel, Louisville, and Scar, our run defense hasn’t been this bad since Kevin Steele, time to go!

Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye

Dec 2, 2024, 12:49 PM [ in reply to Re: Wes Goodwin ...good bye ]

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. The defense has gotten statistically worse year over year and now recruiting is suffering as well. Wes was a failed experiment, time to go find a proven winner. Dabo has done it before, and even recently has with Luke. He can find someone better out there to turn it around, but the key words are “out there” no more friends and family

allowed Connor Shaw to beat us time and again with his scrambles back when we were otherwise a Top 10 team in '12 and '13? That was pretty much SCar's only effective offense Saturday - broken play scrambles by Sellers where his athleticism took over in an open field after Wes's D had otherwise completely shut the play down.
