No arguments, just your favorites. Who cares if it’s dumb. Just your favorite.
When my mom was really really sick my dad would sing this to her and I will never forget it. Best song of all time for me.

Do you ever think about how old young people looked back in the day?

Put Merle in a hoodie and some gym shorts and he’d probably look like a modern 16 year old too.

Got to see Don Williams about 10 years ago at this little outdoor concert series the Bluebird Cafe put on. That voice…when he was talking or singing, the crowd was dead silent—the guy made even the usual concert gabbers want to listen.

And I’m always next to the ones that talk about work for the duration of a concert. I’m baffled why people buy a concert ticket to talk.

The Evening Muse in NoDa is exceptional for that. If someone starts yapping, the crowd takes care of it very quickly. Seated shows at the Neighborhood Theater usually go pretty well too.

With a Randy Travis tune being “old country”. Lol. Good story though, I see how that song is meaningful for you, and it’s a great tune.

Jerry Jeff Walker’s Pissing in the Wind was played by me a lot towards the end of my work career.
I played it loud.
If only someone had covered ee cummings I Sing of Olaf!
The line of “there is some s**t I will not it” was brilliant.
JJW was badass

came from Saturday night "Hee Haw" TV show and the Grand Ole Opry on the radio. I didn't appreciate it nearly as much now as I do now. My grandparents loved that stuff, they were bluegrass people.
Roy Clark is criminally underrated.

Song was and is one of my favorites.
"Baby go down to the drugstore. Buy me a guitar string. Be sure to wear your coat girl, cause it might rain. Cause Honey you know that rain is bad for my guitar string." Gotta love that!

In no order:
1. Carrying Your Love With Me - George Strait 2. Much Too Young - Garth 3. He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones 4. Chasin' That Neon Rainbow - Alan Jackson 5. Next Broken Heart - Brooks and Dunn 6. Just about any #### thing by Conway Twitty 7. Folsom Prison - Johnny Cash 8. A whole ####### lot of David Allan Coe 9. When I Die, I May Not Go to Heaven - Tanya Tucker (honestly, anything sung by Tanya just about melts me... sexy as hell voice)

Saw this thread earlier today but was too busy to post. Thought I'd share a partial set list from a party I played the other weekend with about 8 other musicians. Includes some country, so not entirely off subject:
Take it Easy - Eagles Mama Tried - Haggard Pride and Joy - SRV Let's Go - The Cars Waiting on Friend - Stones Blue on Black - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Settin' the Woods on Fire -Hank Sr. Ain't Even Done with the Night - Mellencamp Can't Let Go - Lucinda Williams Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits Third Rate Romance - Amazing Rythm Aces Heard it in a Love Song - Marshall Tucker
Was more, but that's some off the top of the noggin. Anyway, cool thread.
